Why am I so ugly on camera but not in the mirror?

Like so fucking ugly on camera, but pretty good looking in the mirror.

It's a matter of perspective, that's all.

You're used to seeing your reflection in a mirror, which is a reversed image. A photograph is not reversed. It's literally the way you look to others, which is not a perspective you are used to, so your brain interperets it as being "off" which messes with you.

It's similar to why our voices sound funny on a recording; we're not used to hearing it that way, so it sounds wrong.

You're not. I saw your pic the other day, you're not ugly. I think what you mean is that you look different on pics than in the mirror. It's common. We get used to seeing ourselves in reverse in the mirror. We see a reflection. The camera shows what everyone else sees, it's different.

I'm not sure about the mirror, but I know I look hideous in photos. Whether a professional photographer, a friend, or the dmv, they always say, "Omg, hahaha... let's try that again." My kids always tell me, "Mom, that doesn't even look like you." I hope everyone is being honest and I'm not as bad looking irl.

look at a picture of yourself backwards and it will look like what you see in the mirror

I don't think you're ugly on camera. But part of the reason why there is a difference is because being close to the camera will warp your face. Different angles will subtly change your face. Lighting can really affect things also. So it's more often than not that a picture will look like it's almost you but with something wrong

It to do with how mirrors work and our brains works. If you raise your left hand you with see on the left side of a mirror and the right side of a photograph. So if you spend a lot time looking at your self in a mirror that you are used to seeing you left side on your left. And when you see your left side on the right you brain sees it as something be off and rejects it. I would advise to try put a photo of you in your mirror and normalize seeing your self in photos and the mirror.

Try not to get too close with the camera as it distorts. You will look more natural if you have someone take a photo from 10 feet back and don't use a wide-angle lens.

Because you're literally used to looking at a mirror image of yourself. When you see your face on camera, which is the same way everyone else sees you, you notice that things don't look quite right because your face isn't perfectly symmetrical.

The camera has a very different field of view, and is often flipped, the light conditions matter a lot too.

I haven't seen you luv, so I can't say about how beautiful or not so beautiful you are but the camera has better lenses then our eyes that's why we see better image of us in mirror then in camera.
