Im tomboyish in a sense but the girls above look “butch” like dykes, not the kinda tomboy i think of. I’m tomboyish like this, to where you can tell i still want to be A GIRL

So do you mean butch instead of tomboy? Because the pics you posted are not the same. When we were kids calling ourselves girly girl and tomboy, the tomboys were nit dressed like that. We dressed a bit rough to go out and play but not like that lmao

Well. Tomboy. But didn't know that those girls would be a bit different then the girls you showed me.

Maybe its more so about the overall appearance than just the clothes. So ig it depends on whose wearing them and how they carry themselves.

I don't think these 2 sets of pictures depict the normal definition of tomboy. At least not in my perception.

@HaveNoName maybe it differs by age. you're a different gen from me. But this was pretty common in my gen.

      Could be

But let me be clear. For me, "tomboy" is not a flattering trait in a girl.

A girl is tomboy in 3 ways:
      1) clothing and physical visuals (eg boy lile hair)
      2) physical mannerisms and gestures (eg manly strides; standing with legs parted; sitting with legs wide open or leg upon the other but the ankle or shin rested on the other leg).
      3) interests on all the activities that boys like or in company of boys.

1 & 2 are an absolute turn off. Any lack of feminity in a female just turns me off completely.

3 is not a problem if 1.& 2 do not apply to her.

@HaveNoName Understandable that 1-3 bother you. But thankfully there are dudes who like that im not a girly girl plus we have a lot in common and find eachother relatable. It comes across as feeling like a girlfriend who can also be his best friend rather than just becoming “one of the boys”. We do things that no straight guy looks to do with guys but would totally do with his girl, despite her dress style. To me there's a difference between the “not a girly girl” type tomboy and the “butch” who wants to be a guy

I don’t like the first 3 styles, the last one is better.

I don’t know if that’s tomboy, that’s the only tomboy style I’ve worn I think, suits my body

I work in a male dominated field so I have a bit of stuff like a tomboy, but I also like wearing girly things as well. I have a lot of flannels but I also have a lot of my favorite sports teams shirts. Shit I even have a customized jersey with my birth year and last name!

I have more cargo pants than dresses, I always fail trying to keep it girly.3rd pic kinda illustrates how I dress on most days, plus the short hair spelling TOMBOY. So yes, the tomboy trend is quite popular in my country, I'm among the one's promoting it lol

most of those aren't tomboy but more like butch lesbian style. like it's so so rare to have a girl that isn't at least bisexual have that look

you probably mean more like sweat pants, baggy tees, oversize jeans and that kinda stuff by tomboy, in that case that's like really normal and has been for the last decades

It has always been trendy and both in city and countryside it's mostly teen girls who feel bad in their body that does it (they don't like their curves feel uncomfortable so they hide but usually it stop in their early 20s).

De-feminization is growing. Look at what the women are like now compared to years before the 80's. Femininity is dying.

True. But I'd like to add that both masculinity and feminity are dying in places they were to be kept alive that is, feminity in women and masculinity in men. Especially in the west, it's falling apart and people are actually glorifying this degeneracy.

Tomboys have always been an over stylized trope, yes it's still very much popular. However, I wouldn't say it's growing exponentially than other fashion trends within the past 10-20 years or so.

As for if it's growing in Montreal, could be up for debate. We have such a diverse population that I'm sure some of the women could be sporting the tomboy look.

Be a tomboy if you want but don't demand special treatment or pretend you are special. Almost nobody is actually special... that's the point.

Rarely see any of that. Only a super tiny percentage of people like to pretend they are the opposite sex though media shows it like its the norm.
