Why do GIRLS show MORE SKIN than guys when wearing SIMILAR CLOTHES?

Here is a girl and a guy, each wearing jean shorts and a white top.

Notice that the girl is showing much more skin than the guy. Her shorts are shorter and her arms, shoulders and midriff are exposed while the guy is mostly covered.

Why is that?

Is there any particular reason why women usually show more skin?

Some girls show skin for the same reason that hip hop artists wear gold chains, and the same reason rednecks display their rifle in the back window of their truck even when they're not hunting. They are are proud of their assets and feel empowered by them.

They are influenced influenced by society's portrayal of female beauty, just as minority is influenced by Dr. Dre or whomever. The desire to look the part and be desirable is the key factor in why women show more skin than men, because that's how they obtain power.

For other girls, less clothes makes it more comfortable for women to show more skin. Women tend to have more curves than men, which can make it difficult to find clothing that fits their body type. And, women's skin is often more sensitive than men's. Also, they're more likely to have to take their clothes off quickly should someone approach them with a sexual opportunity.

No matter the reason, Boobslayer thinks that wearing revealing clothing is a great way for women to express themselves. There's nothing wrong with showing off one's melons, boobies, tits, milkers, fried eggs, chesticles, honkers, bazoombas, coconuts, fiery biscuits, cantaloupes, boom booms, and jugs just like there's nothing wrong with me making it rain money on them.

Maybe it's... the clothes? I've shopped both sections for years and I'm gonna be honest here, women's clothes are almost always noticeably thinner, tighter, shorter, and lower cut. It's great for summer when you want to stay cool or if you just like how they make you look, but not great if you primarily wear clothes for modesty or usefulness.

Women's clothes are designed to draw attention to the woman wearing the clothes; men's clothes are designed to draw attention to the clothes the man is wearing. In general anyway.. Obviously all clothes I own are men's clothes, no matter what section I bought them from or how much skin they cover. And likewise for a woman.

Cause some of us like showing off our curves more. Also could be because it’s a cute outfit. Also could be because the fashion industry generally makes our clothes tighter and shorter then they do for men. Guys can wear outfits like the girl is wearing too, they just choose not to for their own personal reasons.

Fashion. Years ago, a cousin got married in the dead of winter, and as we were getting ready to go, my mother kept nagging me to put on my heavy overcoat. It was 20 degrees outside, and normally that would make sense- but we'd just come off a solid week of subzero temperatures, so 20 felt downright balmy. I looked at her, in her thin dress that probably barely gave any protection against the cold, and wondered- not for the first time- why the smaller gender that produces less heat when it moves AND dissipates it faster wears LESS clothing. I debating telling HER to wear it, since she obviously wasn't dressing for the weather, but said nothing, out of fear I'd start a fight.

Years later, I got called into the office on Monday at a temp job I was working at and told I couldn't wear shorts like I'd done on "casual" Friday. This was NOT a customer-facing job, and even with the air conditioning, it was profoundly uncomfortable to be wearing long pants in July. But the supervisor who called me in told me this while wearing a skirt that showed MORE skin than I had been on Friday (and this on a NON-casual day, no less). Not a bigger percentage, more square inches. I pointed at her legs and cleared my throat; she blushed and told me "that's all".

They fired me a few days later; I don't know if that conversation was why.

I'll never understand it. Less clothes doesn't mean you're cooler either, so they can scrap that argument. Folks in the desert completely cover in order to protect themselves from the sun but they wear cool fabrics like linen. I am very modest and yet never get "sweaty" because I have well made clothes that are breathable.

Western women, since the sexual revolution of the 70s, have just lost all dignity and self-respect in my opinion.

As someone who has had two heat strokes - those clothes are also likely made out of much cooler fabrics. In Japan where summers can get to above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, the clothes for summer are made with cooler fabrics that way, even though it doesn’t show as much skin, the person wearing it stays cooler. In America, that’s not so much the case for women’s clothing, especially if you live somewhere where it’s not particularly warm during winter through spring but once it gets to summer, the temperature ranges from mid 50’s to 89 degrees or higher. The fabric of the clothing is very important so while those people in the desert that you’re talking about might be more covered up, it’s more likely that their clothes are made for the heat then here in the US.

clothing examples are only similar in style. He has a long sleeve shirt over the top- she doesn't. His T-shirt covers the navel- her top doesn't. His shorts are almost knee-length- hers are not.

Softer skin is sometimes an underrated answer in how one can look with less covering, an estrogen/testosterone ordeal. Like some guys could have naturally softer skin like women without any transition and may look better with less, especially clean shaven. You might notice such on some athletes
