Why do barbers and hairstylists suck these days?

I wanted a easy hairstyle short on the sides and an inch on top. The barbers would always butcher my hair. I started cutting my own hair and in 4 months the result was better than the professionals.

After Covid-19 and all the lockdowns, I was due for a colour/cut and of course, couldn't get in anywhere. I had been faithfully going to salons since I was 13 for colour/cut jobs.

So, since I had no choice, I bought a box of bleach and toner from the drugstore, and since I already had the hairdresser scissors, I just did everything myself.

I was amazed. I managed to pull it off, and it cost almost nothing. All I did was mimic all the things hairdressers were doing whenever I got my hair done. Since then, my mom's friend who is a retired hairdresser, gets me my Schwarzkopf bleach and toner from her supplier--because that's the brand I always had stylists use on me.

Now, I do it the way I request to have it done with a salon-quality product. I can sit in the comfort of my home while my colour sets. And I cut the actual amount that needs to be cut. And the best part of all is I can get an appointment whenever I want, and it's at a fraction of the cost of a salon. :)

Where do you go? Sounds so messed up
And you are really good at cutting your own hair,, I would really mess it up
But 50$ professional barbers in my place are super awesome and they know which hair style suits your face and give me a super awesome cut

I started cutting my own hair too for the same reason. It seems that decent service or professionalism of any kind these days is just shit.
