I was at this work event and I was wearing this nice dress ( it was inexpensive but nice ) one of my older managers said I looked so cute. Then she said “Allison’s a stunner” and she was talking about me.
A lot if people have called me pretty throughout life but I haven’t heard the word stunner really. Did she mean I was a stunner in the dress or in general?

It means you we’re probably looking really beautiful that night. The fact that compliment came from a woman boss rather than a man might even make it a little more special. Older women can sometimes be catty toward a younger, prettier, woman. This probably means she’s either very secure in herself or you were just too pretty not to recognize. If one person said it, ten we’re probably thinking it.
I don't mean to be abrasive, but does it really matter? It was a compliment. Just accept the compliment.
If she called you a stunner, the dress probably wasn't a make or break thing for her.
