Is it ok to wear a speedo for lap swimming at the gym or local pool?

Nothing over the top, just a plain black one like this. I’m in decent shape and I’ve heard swim briefs are better for lap swimming.

I mean, it's not like you're going and wearing a man thong at the pool. lol Male swimmers wear those because they're less likely to fall off in the water (we're looking at you swimming trunks).
