I've never been the biggest fan of boots but went with 00s. The best-looking ones to me are always the really high ones, like this:

I think the length helps me to see it as elegant since boots always seemed a bit heavy and overbearing to my eyes especially when they're very short and bulky. Yet when they're higher, they do start to look lighter, sleeker, more integrated with the overall form to my eyes.

I went with the 00s, but they aren't dissimilar to the 70s GoGo boots. Tight, knee high or above the knee is sexy.

The ones I hate are those that look like combat boots with round toes and thick soles.
