Do you feel more confident with a tan?

I see a lot of attractive Western people who have a tan but it's not popular in my culture. People prefer to stay indoors when it's hot.
No kidding.. I have been praised several times for staying "fair-skinned" during summer. The last time I tanned was when I spent an entire day at the beach when I was about 14.
Honestly, I appreciate the beauty of all skin tones but I'm curious to know if people from other cultures like more melanin.

No, I don’t think skin color has any effect on someone's attractiveness. It's about the facial features.

In the West, Europe , USA and Latin Anerica it's actually the opposite. People with pale skin are being made fun of and are told to get a tan. (but not as tan as African people; more like a golden/bronze hue than brown; not sure if that makes sense-Some features that are also praised in the West are a small upturned nose, very big lips, blue or green eyes and curly hair, so a mix of many different ethnicities). In my opinion, that's as toxic as telling people to stay away from the sun and the obsession with fair skin. (I mean if someone can naturally tan, then that's great, but saying that people with fair skin are ugly is also not right and it's colorism too). All sort of beauty standards are oppressive and toxic.

I have tried fake tanning lotion in the past (a few times actually) and i cannot accept it. It isn't "me" sorta speak. I much prefer my fair complexion, I feel more myself, more natural.
And I don't look like a carrot. lols

before you tan yourself like a piece of bacon, take a look around and you will be able to tell who did that in their youth.
Their skin is dry and wrinkly like an old piece of leather, and it is too late to do anything about it when that happens as you get older.
Plus, you might start having skin cancer that will need to be treated.
Everything in moderation.
A little color is fine, baking yourself in the sun endlessly not so much.

I don't want Skin Cancer, one of the reasons I sympathize with Vampires, I also don't think that tan is pretty, but yea Asia tend to value fair-skin more than the west.

I like being tan. I spend a lot of time outside when the weather allows. I don’t use tanning beds anymore tho

I was white when I was a child but now I am tanned brown due to extreme sunlight as I live in India the temperature goes up to 60° C in summer I wish I was white just like before when I was a child

I didn't like my fine freckles when I was young.

Getting tanned hid the freckles.

I got used to the tanned look.
