As the 'Question' says... Would you wear a Scottish Kilt

It's bit of an older photo... The 'Facial Hair' was just a brief period, and I won't go down that line again; I can grow a decent beard anyway.

This is my somewhat 'Punk' look; I am a Skinhead, but Skinheads and Punks are very close to each other.

I am not Scottish, and have no connection to Scotland at all; I just love the Kilt and highly prefer it over wearing shorts.

(No, I do not go 'Commando 😂)

I don't see why not. Especially since I'm half Scotch and even more especially since I've been wearing skirts on stage for 20 years.

I'm a drummer and pants are too confining and restrictive for what I wanna do on the drums.
My cousin, Bob, when to CMU back when it was Carnegie Tech and, every so often, he whips out his kilt. He was also in the Kiltie Marching Band at that school.

Oh cool... yes, I can under stand why you'd want to wear something more comfortable: A Scottish Kilt would be a perfect solution.

What kind of music style do you perform?

Anything Rock, Metal and Punk would be suitable I'd say.

Well, the thing about kilts is, they gow down to my kneees, I need to have that area open because that's where my snare is. also, I don't think they make kilts with elastic waistbands.. If not, that'd be too confining, too. I usually wear a short scooter skirt. Black. The colour doesn't matter but, it matches the leotard, which keeps the sweat on my chest and back from getting onto my arms and them flowing to my hands making it impossible to hold the sticks or keep from getting huge blisters. The tights or pantyhose keep the leg sweat from getting on my arms, too.
my singer and both guitar boys liked to call it punk but, it's way too complex for punk so, I'd call it, `60's influence, new wave flavoured science fiction rock. (Bob got a lot of his song ideas from, the sci-fi he'd read and watch all the time.
Yeah, we kinda did everything. Rock, metal, punk, new wave, reggae, an occasional oldie, at one point, we wrote a song and gave it a waltz opening.

Proper Kilts are indeed tight at the waist. I would only buy proper ones because in the end I wear them for the Cultural Aspect and not convenience; they are, in my opinion, not very convenient to wear.

But there are a lot of cheap Chinese rip-offs, so maybe there are some with elastic in the waist. Other than that, movement shouldn't be an issue I assume. I don't think placing a 'Snare' (had to look that one up) between your legs is an issue.

I am listening to the videos now... I am not overly into the Rock/ Metal/ Punk/ Oi!/Hardcore music styles... I prefer Ska, Reggae and [Northern] Soul, I can most certainly appreciate it and I like what I hear.
I do indeed pick up on some 'Punk-Rock' influences... A bit like the Ramones. I have a bit the feeling I have heard of 'Thin White Line' before; it wouldn't surprise me if some of my American Brothers have mentioned it.

The snare drum. For most drummers, it wouldn't be an issue because they tend to keep Mr. share slightly above their knees, mine is tilted quite low so, a kilt would constantly get in the way unless it was a mini kilt. Not to mention, the sporran!
i wouldn't be surprised, either! a friend of mine tells me they've heard of us over in Norway or one of those Dutch, Norwegian countries.

Yeah, the way you describe how your Snare is placed would indeed pose some issues; a Sporran would of course not be needed 😉 I got mine a number of years after I got my Kilt, I needed 'pocket' space lol; mainly for keys, lighter and tobacco.

I felt a bit uncomfortable wearing it the first few times; but I have never had any people make 'funny' comments. A few 'kids', but I don't care about them.

I won't go Commando because I do try to take other people... especially kids... into account; it can be quite windy here on the Suffolk coast; can't have the Kilt being blown up and my whole equipment showing lol.

I don't think I have anything to complain about... but still, I don't want to show people lol 🤣
