Should 5'9 on a woman really be considered tall?

I think if men at 5'9 aren't considered tall at that height then women shouldn't be considered tall at that height either. But what do you think?

As long as men are usually only seen as tall at 6 feet I think if she's not 6 feet then she does not get to call herself tall or at least not that tall

Globally the height of an average woman is 5 feet 3 inches so if she's 5ft9 she's a tall woman.

In the US, statistically speaking, women who are 5'9 or taller only make up 5% of the US population. I am 5'9, and never in my life has any man or woman referred to me as short. I remember this specifically in high school where we took an all school picture with the 500 students in my school, and they made a first call for all the tall people so we could be placed at the top of the stands, and I was VIOLENTLY pushed to the front by several people. I've never doubted I was tall, and I believe I'm tall, but...

...what you're saying is that women are either equal in height to or much shorter than men, therefore women "can't be tall" unless they are taller than the average man. So if you just really want to hear someone say this for some reason, according to you, any woman who is 5'10 and up is tall because they would be taller than the average man. There you go!

Seems like a silly thing to be up in arms about. I mean I'm 5'10 and I'm considered tall for a woman. Nobody is gonna be like "wow she's short or average height for a woman". Trying to compare us to male heights is folly as well as men are naturally taller than women.

5'9 is very tall when you are only 5'2 like me. My husband seems tall, and he is 5'7.
