What would you say back if another person said to you that you are not pretty/handsome enough for the person you are currently dating?

This happened to me before offline.

It was actually another guy who said this to me. I don’t think he is envious or jealous of me. I just think he is a miserable prick. A person who is truly happy in their life and self confident doesn’t go around intentionally trying to hurt others.

Anyway he said to me that he was surprised my boyfriend picked me because there are much prettier girls out there than me.

I just said to him afterwards “Your opinion is unimportant to me and my boyfriend doesn’t agree with you.”

Well said. He was just being cruel. Imagine people like him as a naughty little boy or girl throwing a tantrum. To children, any attention, positive or negative, is better than no attention. Standing up for yourself and your reaction was perfect. If he or anyone else tries to further involve you in their drama, just think to yourself; ‘This is bullshit;’ or in some cases; ‘This isn’t even bullshit, it’s horse shit;’ and erase it from your mind by thinking about other stuff. No more engagement. With friends or future love interests, take a few days off from their drama and try not to get involved too closely, til they’ve calmed down, or possibly at all.

Well that person picked them for a reason, and I would bet it is because of their personality, sense of humor, how they treat others vs staring in a mirror all day long and go I'm so pretty, aren't I pretty, and have the personality of a dead fish.
Nope, good looks are not everything.
Over the years I figured out that I actually have to like and enjoy the time I spend with someone else.

Telling me I'm too ugly (whether it's to date a specific woman, or just in general) is not news to me. The girls I have dated no doubt thought they were much better looking, and I grew up with most people calling me stupid, ugly (usually ugly) so comments about me being hideously ugly aren't new. I don't know, especially if you are caught off guard. There isn't much to say I think. Either you say something along your lines that is that if your boyfriend is happy that is all that matters to you, or try and say something about him. But if he is good looking I think the first one is the best option.

What an incredibly insecure and intentionally hurtful things to say. Clearly that person is shallow, is insecure about his looks, and is projecting that on to others. Attractiveness is so much more than just physical appearance. You handled it perfectly. I would say about the same thing and even add it’s sad your insecurity makes you think you have a right to judge others in that way.
