What’s the most creative Halloween costume you’ve seen someone wear?

When I was little, my mom made me a dinosaur costume out of green fabric. The tail was stuffed with batting and there were triangular ridges from the head and down the back and tail. She even made feet with three triangular toes that sat on top of my shoes and were attached with elastic that ran underneath.
We went shopping and found a Halloween horse head. We painted it and she bought some sharp, Halloween fingernails that are made to slip over your fingertips. We painted the nails red like blood and she stuck them through the inside of the mouth so that the red tips protruded like teeth.

It was awesome. I wore that costume for about 3 years until I outgrew it.

From 2005 to 2019, my wife and I used to go to some friend's house to hand out candy. Their street got a lot of Halloween traffic with close to 1000 trick or treaters. I saw some really creative costumes but can't remember any in particular.

One year, my wife dressed as a cat and did an amazing job of makeup. I made really good cat ears for her on a barrette. She even had a tail - no, not a butt plug tail.

Hmmm... somewhat hard to say, but a lot of the anime or video game cosplays people tend to wear at cosplay conventions tend to be pretty creative. People tend to make them by themselves with a lot of effort rather than most Halloween costumes that are bought from the store pre-done.

While technically the anime or video games cosplays aren't "Halloween" costumes per se, they fit right in. A lot of Halloween costumes aren't even the scary type anyway. Cosplay costumes are also often better quality because they're usually meant to be worn more than just exactly once a year like Halloween costumes are.

If you're going for pre-done stuff though, I guess a good technique could be to mix things from various different costumes, creating a combination. Like use the mask of a certain costume, then the pants/shirt/whatever from a different costume, etc. Perhaps some different accessories as well.

Married friends of mine dressed as a prostitute and pimp. Their costumes were incredible! lol Her husband had the long purple fur coat, with a silky gold shirt and a hat. He had red boots and even a cane. She had a grey fur coat and gold knee high leather boots. A (actually really cute) silver mini skirt and fishnet stockings that had strategic tears on them. They looked hilarious together.

Unfortunately, I can't say I have; in reality, most people buy them from the store, which isn't bad. When I was growing up, we'd make them with a plastic black bag—not overly creative, but a lot of passion went into making it. Fun times! 🧛‍♂️🧛‍♀️🧛 😝

I once saw someone dress up as a walking LEGO brick for Halloween. They used old cardboard boxes and red solo cups for the studs, and it was so realistic that they looked like they had just stepped out of a toy box. The amount of detail and creativity they put into it was impressive, and it was a big hit at the party! 🎃

To be honest, my wife's from last year.

We were hosting a Halloween party (her biggest passion) and she went for a corpse bride costume - four hours of make up and preparation with her professional friend.

Contact lense to make a discolored eye, plasticine and make up to add gashes, stitches and signs of decay - even exposed bone - to her face, neck, arms and legs; a special and detailed glove to make her hand skeletal. Even smallest details such as fake tiny maggots around some wounds or tendons sticking out.

It looked so impressive and she truly looked like a zombie from a big budget movie. Took a lot of time to wash it off after the party too.

There are usually several that are quite creative at our church's annual "Trunk or Treat". Volunteers decorate the trunks of the car/van and hand out church-supplied candy to the kids. Bonfire- hot chocolate- local fire department and police usually offer "tours" of a unit or two they park for an hour or so.

Not the most creative, but definitely the most shocking. I went out for Halloween two years ago to a bar near where I live in France. There was a dude there dressed up as Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès (XDL).

If you don't know who XDL is and you're a fan of crime, I recommend you take a look at the various documentaries. In short he killed his entire family and ran off, never to be found again.

Anyway, this bloke got so drunk he was chucked out of the bar just after midnight. He'd spent the night drinking triple dosed Ricards (french alcoholic drink).
