Why is it that as women get older, they tend to cut more length off of their hair?

Less time to fix it. When we're teens, we have a lot more discretionary time to fiddle around with it. I had hair down to my hips for years, but I seldom wore it down as an adult because it took hours to curl and style. It was generally braided or twisted into a bun to be out of the way. I finally cut it off two years ago to the middle of my back and had it cut in long, soft layers. It takes me about 15 minutes to style if it's dry, but it's still feminine. I go to the salon for maintainance trims every two months, and that seems to work pretty well.
As we get even older, long hair takes some strength to brush out, and shorter hair requires less energy to maintain and style. Also, we will inevitably lose volume as we age, so shorter hair can hide hair loss and keep it from looking flat and thin. I'm not really a fan of the old lady short cuts, so I'm hoping that's not my genetic fate! :D
Because they get told longer hair makes them look older.
I would've thought it's the opposite 😮
It's not something I believe in either. Longer hair actually makes me personally look younger. But I have heard a lot of hairdressers say that to women. 🙃
No clue why that would be. I definitely associate more hair to being younger generally 😅
There might be one reasons: Hairdressers earn more with short haircuts because it has to be cut more often. ðŸ¤

Takes time for hair to grow long, right? That means the hair needs to be durable and survive various shocks/handling that it wouldn't have to if it was only 1 inch long and being constantly replaced every couple of weeks/month, see? So as the quality of the hair decreases it would naturally become shorter whether it was trimmed or not. Then add on top of that that hair thins out as you get older -- for most people.
That said, I would say lots of women start cutting it shorter before they need to for other reasons.
Because more old a woman gets, the more hair she loses, due to hormonal changes and make it look thin, become more brittle, and require more maintenance, making shorter styles easier to manage and appearing fuller, while also potentially hiding signs of hair loss
I was looking at an article about this very subject and believe it or not, men aren't attracted to women who wear their hair the same way they did in high school; long, and parted down the middle. In fact, Jennifer Anniston just recently changed her hair style and she had the long hair and parted down the middle for most of her adult life.
When the boobs get longer - the hair can be shorter?

I think that a girl's/lady's hair styling is part of their mating rituals to attract reproduction partners. As they grow older, they usually rather turn to baking, knitting and gossiping; where long hair not longer serves its purpose.
Not so much to deal with, not trying to impress anyone
I never thought about it. But it works for me.
Less to see,
