Why do women want to cut their hair short?

My wife has always had her hair from mid-neck length to mid-back. Last night she said she wants it cut super short. I know it's hers and not mine, but it's really pretty and I really like it long. Before i get some sexest reactions, know that I will love her regardless. I just can't imagine myself being sexually attracted to her like that. What is going on here? We've been married 18 years, and we're both in our late 30's.

Throw the tv and the computer out, take her phone off of her. The mass media is fucking women's heads up. Guarantee she seen something online and she thinks its liberating in some way. The media are slowly but surely changing people into freaks. I know it's only hair but they're getting guys to think they're women and guilting girls into sleeping with any third world tramp who happens along or they're racist. This is just the beginning mate. You'll see more changes soon. She'll stop making your dinner and want you to stay in and watch the kids whilst she works. The feminist dogma is taking hold. Buy a whip, a shield and a cage. 1. It's faster and easier to wash and dry
2. It's not staying in the way
3. She likes the look of it and don't care about fashion
4. Long hair is too warm
5. She wants to express something. It doesn't need to be political.
6. Her hair is thinning or graying, so short hair is easier to cope with
7. She wants to donate it

I’m sure some men see it that way as you. Nobody saying a woman can’t do as they please. We’re saying doing as you please has consequences. 15-30 years ago men were clueless. Today men are setting perimeters in a host of areas women are making decisions on. No longer are men just adjusting to females whims. Their not accepting women’s ideas of marriage, hypergamy, sexual expression. Women control sex and access. Men control marriage and relationships.

i won't cut my long hair mainly for 4 reasons that really say a lot about me.

1. when i was growing up my beloved father would often say in his gentle voice how beautiful and maiden-like my long hair was and would encourage me to keep it long and sometimes thoughtfully note that it had auburn parts that may be from my grandmother.

2. i like to have as many options as possible and long hair has that going for it.

3. i'm conservative about my physical appearance in general although i do like certain fashions that others may find to be different

4. i always choose design over function

I mean, no longer being sexually attracted to her is a bit dramatic - being less attracted to her I understand, or if she got something ridiculous like a mohawk. But that's just me.

Honestly women do it after they've had the same style for so long. It gets mundane. Sometimes you wanna experiment. In my experience though girls who go from long hair to short hair always return to long hair when they realize short hair doesn't equal less maintenance. Short styles need... styling, long hair can go into a ponytail. Either just wait it out or let her know your preference.

I can see both sides. From her point of view it's a lot of maintenance to have longer hair, she's probably fed up of the style too. From yours, you are biologically programmed to view long luscious locks as a sign of female fertility. Therefore you can't help but feel the way you do. I think you should talk to her and let her know how you feel, at the same time you must not guilt her into not doing this, more just register your love for her hair. If she does decide to cut it, don't worry, hair grows back.

There are plenty of reasons why a woman may want to cut her hair. Shorter hair is easier to maintain and manage. Long hair can be really hot in the summer. Or maybe she just likes how short hair looks. You have the right to voice your opinion but ultimately it's her decision.

I'm a stylist. Women cut their hair for many reasons... long thick hair can cause headaches, its hot, they get tired of the time long hair takes to wash, dry & style. Some want to look 25 instead of 45 & try to change it through their hair. (sounds crazy but true) some just want a change. You may tell her how beautiful you think she is. You would be surprised how many women suddenly change their mind after they hear how much the hubs or boyfriend thinks they are beautiful... maybe suggest keep the length add some layers or just cut a few inches. i mean you ask whats going on-as if its a big deal. why is the length of her hair an issue (especially for attraction) if you have been married for almost two decades? You both should have a lot more behind attraction than looks/hairstyles.

man up and ask your wife. only she knows.

short hair is edgy, funky, pretty and versitile. it welcomes a necessary change. maybe she is bored and wants something new.

Guess it's easier to maintain. I get it long hair makes a woman look more feminine and less boyish.. men are attracted to that and want us to keep our hair. I cut mines cause went natural but I really do miss it being long (even if it was just shoulder length).

I love cutting my hair because it gives me a hard time to brush when it's long. I also love how it just looks different from others, sometimes long is boring. I now have hair past my shoulder and I really want to cut it but I fortunately like the way it looks.

Same reason most guys do I imagine. It's a lot of maintenance and a pain in the ass to keep out of your face. Just another reason why it's stupid to get married, now it's expensive to dump her and get someone you are actually attracted to. Sucks to be you.
