Of course and just because society whoever society is thinks whatever they think we all think that we should believe them I say bologna I don't believe anything society says because I don't believe that it's so much society I think it's we've been so LED down so many bad paths because of greed that's the same with beauty you know it's it's a it's a greedy game they want you to buy their products so you have to look like this or look like that all I have to do is walk up and look into your eyes take a hold of your hand and feel your heartbeat and I'll know exactly who you are what you're all about and I can tell you 100% honestly every inch of you that is beautiful I mean in detail I can tell you I can tell you how smart you are I don't even have to talk to you and I can tell everything about you in a heartbeat and I don't care what anybody else says because their opinions don't matter it's my opinion especially if I like you it's only my opinion that matters because I'm the person that wants to date you not society so forget what they say I think at least that's why I said just because I say that doesn't mean that I'm right but for me I'm right

it might seem that way, but I do not think so, not primarily
it sure is a big factor on the perception of beauty as a whole... but I do think that beauty is still subjective, and also varied and specific to the individual, the person, and different groups of people as well
for example, which of all societies... there's hundreds of societies out there, and all with different perceptions of what beauty is or can be
the "average" people on the every day, in the streets are often more of them, and more authentically and genuinely beautiful as they go on and about their lives... but then, whatever the media hypes the most, will see to get the more attention10 Reply
Media does. They kinda control the brainwashing propaganda that controls society.
By media i mean news outlets, and movie and tv shows, and music.
They know we base our beliefs on what is pushed in our heads, by who we admire.

There's such a an eclectic variety of different styles now that I believe that people just do what they think works for them.
Many years ago this may have been the case but not anymore.11 Reply

AskSociety undeniably plays a big part in shaping perceptions of beauty, influencing trends and standards through media, fashion, and culture. However, it's also deeply personal and subjective. People's unique tastes, experiences, and backgrounds add diversity to what is considered beautiful. While societal norms impact our views, individual preferences keep the spectrum of beauty diverse and ever-evolving. 🌟

no because there is such a thing as objective beauty
people don't wanna admit this because it makes some people feel hopeless and make others feel shallow and superficial
looks matter in life, not just for dating and reproduction but also for jobs and job promotions, also for guilt or innocence in court of public opinion, also for being bullied or avoiding getting bullied, getting victim blamed with insisting your genetics are your fault etc.
anyone who is being honest can tell what someone's life, personality and problems are like just by the way they look

Depends, it shapes the perception of beauty in some people, but it has no influence on my personal opinion on beauty.
