Unless it's ones meant to be sexy, like lingerie or something, i don't see why it would be any weirder to keep buying them for her as she grows up. If she has a problem with it she can always start buying them for herself whenever she wants to.

@Caroline91 maybe I'm just weird, but I dont think underwear or panties are so taboo. My sister got me socks and my brother undershirts for Christmas. Both of those are also clothes worn under your main clothes for basically the same purpose as underwear. Unless it's meant to be sexy I really don't see the big deal of a parent buying that kind of clothes for their teenage kid (especially if the kid isn't interested in buying it for themself, as teens don't have the best reputation for hygiene). I would not be grossed out by buying panties for my mom, I used to help with laundry too. Why do you think this one clothing item is such a big deal?

I could have decided to do my own laundry sooner and that would have been respected, and I did not have to worry about my parents invading my space or personal belongings. If the parents in the situation make it weird or uncomfortable for the teen, or the teen for whatever reason just wants to buy her own clothes, that would be very different than what I assumed.

@Jeff51 as long as your daughter doesn't have a problem with it you should be fine. If she does for whatever reason then just have her buy them herself instead, and don't question her why. It shouldn't be a big deal either way.
