So, my school has a ban on steel toe boots after this guy got got hospitalized from getting kicked by a girl wearing them, in a fight or argument or something that seriously hurt him. anyway they gave us a lot of lectures for everyone, on conflict resolution and respect for each other's bodies and how serious that injury was, which I totally get, but then they went and banned bulky boots.
The thing is, my platform boots aren't even steel-toed, and I’ve been threatened with suspension for wearing them after multiple warnings. Nobody will listen when I try to explain that. It feels really unfair, especially since my style is such a big part of who I am. I’ve been threatened with suspension after multiple warnings, and every time I try to explain that my boots don’t even have steel caps, they just ignore me.
It feels like I’m being punished for no reason, especially since my style is such a huge part of my identity. The rule feels like a knee-jerk reaction that doesn't even make sense, and it feels like I’m being punished because of some idiots.
I shouldn’t have to compromise my aesthetic because of some blanket rule that doesn’t even make sense. and honestly, it feels like my school doesn’t care about my right to express myself. Anyone else deal with some dumb rule like this? How can I still rock my goth look without getting in trouble?
