People who wear glasses: do you prefer the way you look and feel with your glasses on or without and why?
1.2K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I get the feeling that a lot of people are self conscious about their glasses.
But I have to say that glasses with the right frames can make women look cute, vulnerable, or sexy. They make their eyes look big.
With women, they can serve as accessories. They can fiddle with them with their hands, pull them down to look at you over the tops, take them off and toy with the ear pieces with their teeth or lips.
A buttoned down woman can remove them, unpin her hair and shake it out, and turn into a tigress.

Glasses only make your eyes look big if you are far sighted. Always envious because im near sighted and they make my eyes look smaller lol
- 8 mo
@fartingspinster. Good point.
- 8 mo
@fartingspinster even if your eyes do not look bigger the glasses will still draw attention to them as well as complimenting your features
- 8 mo
@Hghhhhhhhhhh. That's true!
- 8 mo
Hmmm possible, but i feel like my eyes draw people in more without glasses. in my opinion, and I've had people tell me that too 🤷♀️
- 8 mo
@fartingspinster lol that’s rude of them. Maybe you should try out better frames?
- 8 mo
That is rude of them lol
And nah, my frames are good now. Can't think of any other frames that would fit my face better - 8 mo
@fartingspinster lol I don't know what’s wrong with people then. Imagine having a problem with another person correcting their vision smh
Also I just read your username and it is phenomenal - 8 mo
Bahhaha thank you! 😂

It’s weird. I wanted glasses so badly when I was younger and didn’t know about fake ones lol and then I finally needed them but as it was occurring I didn’t want them. I had already changed my mind but it was too late :[ it just happened. I still prefer not to have them, not even for the looks but it really does feel like a disability for me. I used to love looking up at rain or snowfall and now I can’t fully enjoy it with glasses. Even on an angle. It just blurs my lenses lol
Also difficult to run or be active in rain and even in snow because they fog up. Having glasses during Covid was HORRIBLE. Also hard to remember where I place them. Difficult to hold on to them in certain situations. Was difficult to be with them when wanting to swim underwater. Difficult to have cause they increase brightness in my opinion so have to be extra careful on sunny days and extra snowy days. Just in general. It’s just not fun to own them tbh.

How long have you been wearing glasses? It sounds like you might need more time to fully adjust. I actually like having glasses because I like having clear vision and not having headaches. I needed them for a long time before I got them and it’s definitely worse to just not be able to see. If you can get contacts that might be more comfortable for you
- 8 mo
Hah thanks but no no no 😂 I don’t like the feeling of carrying my eyes or they fall off my face if water or any object hit them. I miss the days I could see just fine without them. I liked the control. Hate the dependency, and miss the benefits of natural eyesight. I would say glasses are more positive than natural eyesight. I think It just wouldn’t make any sense if it did. I heard about laser surgeries and those have risk but I may consider it.
I would say the only benefit about glasses or contact lenses as a functional device is that it promotes people to be more careful with their eyes. That’s all. Be more mindful of eyes. Cause foreign objects shouldn’t be flying into people’s eyes to begin with and light can be damaging to our eyes. All this evolution and still no natural uv ray resistance. 😂 But all of the eye care seems to come with a cost- having the need for glasses. Not everyone prioritizes eye care without them.
Aside from that, they can be fashionable. At the end of the day they’re gonna be an eye piece / face accessory. Which is cool, but it’s not a point of recommending them.
“Everyone should damage their eyes so they can wear glasses and look nice!” 😂 noooooo
- 8 mo
No one is saying that? I’m saying it healthy vision isn’t already your reality, you’re better off correcting it. Complain if you want to, but if I had gotten the glasses I needed back I was in school I would have had better self esteem to show for it. I’m sorry me loving myself and my body for the things I cannot change about it makes you do uncomfortable. You may want to do some thinking on that before you respond with an essay only tangentially related to my comment
- 8 mo
Not to mention better grades
- 8 mo
Sis calm down before you go around saying what others understand or don’t for them.
You said and I’ll copy and paste/ quote for you so you can SEE make sure you’re wearing your glasses for this part also, so I won’t have to repeat. 🔁
You said:
“How long have you been wearing glasses? It sounds like you might need more time to fully adjust.”
And then I replied in the way I did. I’ll highlight a part:
“Hah thanks but no no no I don’t like the feeling of carrying my eyes or they fall off my face if water or any object hit them. I miss the days I could see just fine without them. I liked the control. Hate the dependency, and miss the benefits of natural eyesight. I wouldn’t say glasses are more positive than natural eyesight.”
I basically said I don’t need to adjust. I accepted MY need to use glasses. I WILL consider lasik. NATURAL (good) eyesight IS better than good eyesight VIA glasses. 👓
20/20 vision via natural eye sight trumps glasses any day.
I said NOTHING about your little story of denying yourself glasses because YOU needed them, and later finally grew the courage to buy and own a pair. 🤷♀️ lovely story.
Proud for you to accept your own disability. Nothing about what you said made me personally uncomfortable. I promoted in my “essay” if you had read…
Or seen (I don't know).
People should take care of their eyes regardless and it shouldn’t take the need for eye glasses for them to start.
If you want to hate on MY opinion or get offended by MY response to yours- that’s gonna be a YOU problem. I have nothing to do with that. I read nothing about your story. I skimmed and basically skipped that. I’m talking about glasses and GLASSES. Period. No need to be rude and defensive. ✋
Chill out. It’s not that serious. - 8 mo
@Rose_xox Ugh... I hate when people blow up on here. Can't they just calmly talk but also both parties have respect in their responses? I felt you were respectful...
8 moIm used to glasses since I was 11.
Used to not go without them because it would give me headaches from eye strain
I think i reached a point where its so blurred (astigmatism) that it doesn't give me headaches anymore without glasses lol.
Im comfortable with my glasses, but makeup/dressing up - i prefer without and wear contacts. I feel my eyes pop more without glasses but I like that my glasses hide my under eye bags lol.
So im okay with either and have grown to love both! Mainly tho because I found the perfect frame for my face 4 years ago lol25 Reply- 8 mo
Nice! I’m glad you found the perfect frames! I’m still a little self conscious about wearing glasses when I dress up, but I can’t get contacts so u guess that’s just the way it’s going to be. I think it’s important to be comfortable with both tho
- 8 mo
Oh definitely important being comfortable with both. Honestly, with the frames I have on now- i dont mind dressing up with them too. Society has really changed- everyone seems to wear glasses now.
I remember growing up and the saying "men dont make passes at girls who wear glasses" and it was a bit of a confidence kick. But now its become more and more common for it not to be an issue at all - 8 mo
Agreed! Some people weirdly still have a problem with it but like most people have since gotten a life. The media at large is still pretty insistent that pretty girls don’t wear glssses, but it’s much easier to find people with a positive attitude as well. It’s just uniquely frustrating for me I since I need to wear glasses and don’t the option to go without without compromising my vision. There’s still work to do but things are definitely getting better
- 8 mo
I know, it definitely can be frustrating. Especially when people can be such idiots and insensitive. I have the comments "how bad is your eye sight" i dont know... how low is your iq to ask stuff like that?
People dont have any decency anymore - 8 mo
lol for real. I think it was worse back in the day tbh. Now that so many people wear glasses it does make you look pretty ignorant tho. You can definitely see it I’m some of the comments on this thread haha

8 moI'm used to them since I was 14.
I see a lot of practical uses: looking is easier, it's also an eye protection (at work or on the motorbike)
"looks'' - I make sure that my glasses suit my face. Otherwise, I'm not interested if I 'impress' people or if I don't.

Tbh im kinda mixed because my opinion has flipped so many times. But my boyfriend loooves glassed and he's the reason I started wearing them all the time and now I like it. The only time I don't is when I'm in a situation they get smudged or I'm wearing a face mask and it gets fogged up
22 Reply- 8 mo
Makes sense. I can’t for the life of me figure out why glasses are so polarizing to men. You’re either a sex goddess or an unlovable dork, 100% depending on the guy. When I see I guy wearing glasses all I think is that he’s trying to correct his vision 😂 Can’t say I understand
9 moI'm getting used to having glasses but I like both lol
23 Reply- 9 mo
Did you just get your new glasses lol? Bc I’ve definitely been there. For me it took a while to fully adjust to the look and feel of glassss but I wouldn’t trade the vision for anything
- 9 mo
A few months ago I got them
- 9 mo
Very nice! How is it getting used to them? What are your thoughts?

8 moI only wear glasses for reading, and I do feel a little weird wearing them.
I think they can look cute on girls though.
19 Reply- 8 mo
Why do you feel weird wearing glasses?
- 8 mo
I've been wearing them for reading for years, but I'm still not used to them. It feels funny and I think it looks funny! So when I am around people I try not to wear them. But when I try to read something it looks like a blurry mess! 🤓
- 8 mo
Can you wear contacts? I’m sure you look good in glasses (or at least you would with the right pair), but it’s really not good for you to just not be able to see
- 8 mo
Thank you. You are sweet. 🙂
Almost all the reading I do is not around other people. So it only happens if I am at a restaurant reading trying to read the menu or something like that. It's not really a problem... it's kind of funny actually. One time I thought I was ordering one thing on the menu and I actually ordered something else! When they brought it out I asked "what's that?" 😂
Do you wear glasses? Do you like them? - 8 mo
lol see to me that’s a lot more embarrassing than being seen wearing glasses but I don't know
I wear them full time bc I need to and I can’t get contacts. I like to style them but mostly I like having clear vision without straining my eyes - 8 mo
I can understand that.
I always had perfect vision in my whole life until my 50s when I had to start wearing reading glasses.
Funny story...
When we were little kids, my older sister had to have glasses. I was jealous of her glasses so when they gave me the eye test in school I intentionally got all the letters wrong so that they would tell me I need glasses.
They called my parents and said that I should immediately go to an eye doctor because I might be going blind!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I guess in the first grade I wasn't smart enough to get a few of the letters right! - 8 mo
I see. I just had readers for a long time. I know it’s a major adjustment, but it does get easier if you put your mind to it
lol it’s not that unusual for kids to do that 😂 I can’t say I understand but I secretly also wanted glasses as a kid - 8 mo
I bet you look great in glasses! 🙂
- 8 mo
Hey, you too! If you don’t think so then try on different Styles until you do
596 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I don't really care about the looks so much as the feel. I wear glasses all the time because I'm pretty blind. They make my face, neck, and head tense up, strain my eyes, etc. I wish I could get lazer surgery but it won't do much for my left eye
07 Reply- 8 mo
Why do your glasses strain your eyes and make your muscles tense? Worth mentioning that getting lasik doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t have to wear glasses
- 8 mo
Fair enough. Can you get contacts?
- 8 mo
Interesting. I used to wear contacts, and I only ever experienced them falling out when there was an issue with the quality or the fit. Was this a long time ago?
- 8 mo
Oh yeah, the technology has improved a lot since then. Might be worth trying again if you’re still interested. I personally liked them a lot
Unfortunately, I must legally wear two sets of regular sunglasses. I cannot drive or work without them, and I look and see myself more confident without them. I don't like myself with my regular glasses, but I need them to see, and since I do not have any other solutions that can fix my eyesight, I am stuck like this.
01 Reply- 8 mo
I feel this. My prescription required that I wear glasses full time and I cannot get contacts. I’m finally getting to the point where I think I look most like myself with glasses, but it definitely took a while. In the meantime, finding frames yoy really like may boost your confidence. While I understand that it’s frustrating to need glasses, I am eternally grateful for the vision they provide and definitely wouldn’t go back to the time before I had them. I really wish there were more options to correct vision tho. Contacts aren’t possible for everyone and they really should be more prescriptions available in contacts
u 9 moI'd ideally like to not have to wear glasses at all, but I hate the way I look in mine. I never wear them when I go out and I don't take photos of myself with them on.
15 Reply- 9 mo
I’m sorry to hear that. Why do you hate the way you look?
- 9 mo
I dont think they frame my face very well. I could always get new ones, but I generally have never liked wearing glasses and have never found a frame I've liked.
- 9 mo
Gotcha. Yeah it can be hard to learn what you like. There are style guides you can look up to give you an idea what might work, and it can be worth researching different types of frames as well. Contacts might be an option too if you want clear vision without glasses. Definitely try something tho. You deserve to see well in public and feel good about yourself when you do.
- 9 mo
Oh i do wear contacts when I go out. My vision is pretty bad
- 9 mo
Gotcha. Honestly a little jealous. I used to love contacts but they are not available in my prescription. I would still keep trying with the glasses tho just to give yourself options. It might take some trial and error but I know contact lenses can be a burden, especially if you’re not wearing them by choice. Your preference is your preference ofc, but as someone who lost the ability to wear contacts I was definitely glad to have a contingency plan
8 moI prefer myself without glasses, but not because of how glasses look.
Rather because I have perfect vision, and needing glasses would mean I had lost that.10 Reply- 693 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic.
8 moDefinitely without. My nose is very prominent, or some less charitable folks would say “big”😂 But it’s also very narrow, as is my face in general.
So something about glasses/sunglasses …. they very often feel too wide for my face.

Anonymous(36-45)8 moI dont really wear glasses but I do preffer people with glasses, especially women getting that nerdy or librarian vibe gosh that is amazing.

This is interesting to me. As a woman I’m pretty much constantly told I look better without glasses, but it’s good to know that so people prefer us with. Also interesting that someone who doesn’t wear glasses would have a taste for it
Opinion Owner8 moit has always been like that, even if I had girlfriends without glasses I must say I was secretely hoping for them to see worse in time so they wear glasses, I know it may sound weird but I do really love women with glasses that much.
- 8 mo
Maybe a little weird lol. But it’s does beat all the comments being unnecessarily negative about women in glasses. Such an arbitrary thing to have such a big problem with
Opinion Owner8 moOhh haven't really had the time to read the other comments but seeing from my perspective I really thought everyone loves women wearing glasses, it is one of the sexiest accesories no matter what clothes she wears :)
Opinion Owner8 moGlasses not only that outline the beauty of someone eyes, but highlights the other traits of the face as well, like cheeks and lips, besides the nice aesthethic that they usually have
- 8 mo
It’s mostly one lady who wrote an essay about how much she hates her glasses and is weirdly uncomfortable with the fact that I don’t. Nothing the block button can’t fix lol.
As far as I can tell it’s pretty hit or miss. Some guys love it some guys hate it. It’s honestly crazy how strong the opinions get about a nameless woman trying to correct her vision 😂😂😅 and you’re very kind
Opinion Owner8 moWell very strong and intese opiniated people feel more important, to be honest I just really love glasses on a woman for the reasons mentioned above, they are nice sexy give such a nice intelligence vibe, I hope even if I have a wife she wears her glasses in the weeding day hehe
- 8 mo
lol ur a good one! Thank you for that
Opinion Owner8 moYou too and dont really have to thank me, it always feels so nice to speak and think of glasses

03 Reply- 8 mo
It’s kind of insane how expensive contacts are. Definitely try different brands tho. They’re definitely all very different and it is possible to find a pair that really works. Why do you prefer without glasses when you find them more convenient?
- 8 mo
I feel like whenever I do my makeup the glasses just ruin the look which makes me not want to do my makeup at all

I have to wear glasses regardless of whether or not I intend on wearing makeup

8 moWithout. I had Lasik about 3 years ago because I got tired of my glasses fogging up at work under the "virgin goggles".
02 Reply- 8 mo
I don’t know what you mean by “virgin goggles” are you in the military?

No they were special goggles you had to wear over your glasses for industrial environments.
