I kinda agree with it. I know a beard is grows naturally and putting on foundation is a choice but I think a beard can do similar things to foundation such as hide red marks on skin or hide pores.
1 yWell... yes and no.
Like you've kind of tackled on already, beards occur naturally, makeup doesn't.
But at the same time, some guys look much, much, MUUUUUUCH different with a beard or without, for better or worse! Sometimes they don't even look like the same person. I'd argue that beards make a man look even more different than makeup makes a woman look different.
I think that ugly guys or old guys or whatever look better with a beard, generally. Literally hides more of their face. And for old guys helps somewhat hide their wrinkles.
As for handsome guys, I think they generally look better without beards because why hide a beautiful face?
Though some other guys look equally good with a beard or without. Kind of hard to explain.

Mines lazy.

Totally see where you're coming from! A beard can definitely change a man's look and add a certain style, much like makeup does for many. It can hide blemishes or add character, just like foundation evens out complexion. Both are forms of self-expression, enhancing features in unique ways. 😊

1 yYes, lmao. The muzzle of one’s face goes a long way in determining their objective (as objective as possible, anyway) attractiveness. That goes for all of us. I saw so many girls at my gym during Covid who looked hot, and then the mask restrictions got lifted, and…. we’ll just say there were a lot of false-positives, haha

I’m sure some of those ladies made the same assessment of me👹😅 But yeah…. good lord, what are ugly dudes gonna do when this beard trend finally passes? And it WILL pass. Tons of people had mustaches when I was growing up. And then you wouldn’t have been caught dead with one for like 35 years until the Gen Z kids inexplicably brought them back from their banishment. When I was growing up, “beard = homeless”, lmfao. Like you had a beard because you couldn’t take care of yourself😂
Then the hipsters of the 00s brought them in, and despite everyone consistently clowning on hipsters, they got accepted. I feel like it’s a social contract, and modern women have accepted it as a viable alternative to having to look at most guys’ substandard mugs, lmfao.
It’ll never be for me, because “hair = dirty” to me. Yeah, yeah, it’s natural, supposed to be there, etc….. but I’m just grossed out by it, sorry I’m not sorry. Hair on your head? Fine. But coarse body or facial hair…. imagine if you found that in your food? We lose our minds if we find somebody’s fine, straight head-hair in our meal. Like what’s the difference between a hair off of someone’s beard and their pubes? Lmfao, that’s a thin line that I’m not even thinking of toeing. So the idea of kissing someone with a beard…. holy fuck, you ladies are a profile in courage. I could never live that kind of life, lmao. I’d assume I’d walk away chewing part of whatever they ate last😷
And we try to pass it off as “manly” and “masculine.” For some guys, great look, actually. But you have to have the built-in burly thing going. I was watching the NFL Draft last night, and I noticed my team’s baby-faced general manager is wearing a beard now…. but the thing is that he just kind of looks like a candy-ass regardless. No lumberjack beard will ever make him look tough. So he looks foolish to me, not that it’s a lumberjack beard, it’s pretty thin. I don’t even grow a good beard, like him, so I get it (and it’s not sour grapes, I wouldn’t grow one if I could😝).
But most dudes’ faces look like a bag of smashed assholes, so I guess that’s the trade-off women make to pretend their guy is handsome. Cover up half his face, and hope he has nice eyes, haha.

(*I don’t mean to sound so horrifically shallow, I’m only half-serious…but yeah, the beard thing…. not a fan, on most guys)
00 Reply 1.3K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I agree, too.
Okay, okay, men's facial hair is natural and women's makeup has to be skillfully applied. We get it. But that doesn't negate the point.
Makeup can even out skin tones, conceal shadows and blemishes. It can accentuate and minimize certain features or completely change certain features like the shape of the lips.
Makeup can transform women's faces and be like a mask to a certain degree.
Facial hair can be even more transformative. It can conceal pock marks or a weak chin. It can be sculpted into very creative shapes. Think of mutton chop sideburns, famous mustaches of all shapes and sizes, goatees, Amish beards, Taliban beards, hipster beards, closely trimmed beards, carefully sculpted beards, stubbly beards.
Facial hair can be used to conceal a man's identity. It can be used to create a desired image. And it can be impossible to imagine what some guys would look like without their iconic facial hair style. Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Ulysses S. Grant, Buffalo Bill Cody, Karl Marx, Hitler, ...
What about Jesus' beard? Would you recognize him without it?00 Reply355 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. No, a beard on a man doesn't equate to Make up on a woman.
For one the only choice men have with beards is to shave, or not to shave. It grows out of our faces no matter what, you can trim it but you still have it, unless you are one of those weird guys who've had their beard removed by Laser.
A lot of men like myself decided to grow out their beard when they got sick of buying razors and not being able to find a sharp one because their sisters have blunted every damn razor blade in the house, and they never buy their own.
The only time I'm clean shaven is when I'm working on a job where I'll be wearing full face breathing apparatus,
10 ReplyNO it'd be the same as saying your hair is make up. A beard cannot be SET in the same way make up can be made to look complete. Like it's possible that uneven beard growth is present on either side of the face which cannot be easily rectified with a cloth or MAKE UP.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yNaw, money or personality is a man’s makeup. I have seen some of the most dysgenic looking men not just bang but start families with beautiful top tier women by almost any metric.
They had finely tuned personalities, either the witty humorous-people-persons with big hearts or the stoic acting psychopaths equally witty but 0 empathy - only a crude facsimile of it (young women eat that shit up too). I was in the army and we showered together or dressed in front of each-other, so you can’t tell me they had anything else big, but their personalities.Which brings us to the number one make-up for a man. 🤑💰💵💸
00 ReplyAlthough it may change their looks and help some look better, I would assume since it is natural, it is something that is not being "applied" as make-up is something that is applied. Some women can also grow a mustache, so that wouldn't make it "make-up"
10 ReplyYeah, honestly, I think that's fair (although a beard really does make a big practical difference if you live somewhere cold and snowy).
I disagree more with accusations of "hatfishing". If anyone has a valid reason for wearing a hat, it's a bald guy - skin cancer is no joke, and a sunburnt scalp isn't much fun either.00 ReplyYes and no, beard is a tricky thing.
İt can make the most hideous looking guys look good but just like make up it is fake, yes it naturally belongs to hım unlike make up but it is not his Real facial features it is his beard changing the looks of his facial structure.

1 yYeah, in a loose definition facial hair is sort of a coverup like makeup. But it goes even further. For instance, if a guy has a weak jawline and chin but thick facial hair, he can resculpt the shape of his face by trimming his beard. Makeup won't do that for you.
00 Reply 836 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I can understand the sentiment but its like saying your hair is also equivalent to makeup as the defining factor is what's natural to what's not but still a fun conversation to have

1 yBeards are naturally a part of us and if you naturally have a bad beard, it's a bad beard. Unlike make up where you can put it on and adjust it to your liking and even the ugliest girl can look so deceiving with make up. Although beards are ornamental, it has it's own limits make ups don't have. And that's also like saying our hair is a hat.
00 Reply 685 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Only for dudes with low confidence and problems with their view of themselves. For most dudes it's NOT makeup at all. Just like most dudes are not putting clothes on to impress women even if women are impressed.

1 yI can see how beards are ‘men’s makeup’ from the perspective it hides pimples, red marks, pores, warts, etc.
Though since the beard came before makeup, wouldn’t it be makeup that is a woman’s beard?

1 yThis question has been asked before, and the answer is NO. Beards are not even remotely comparable to makeup. If a man is growing his beard, I can assure you it’s not to hide pores. Please stop trying to compare men with women. Men are men. We are not defective women.

1 yNo I don't. Beards are natural. Makeup is artificial and fake. It's like comparing a tree to a painting of one.
I really wish makeup was never invented.00 Reply No, a man's beard grows if he does nothing. A woman's make up doesn't apply itself. You may find a beard attractive, but shaving is an affirmative effort to improve one's appeance.

1 yNo I don't agree because a bearer isn't fake. It's naturally grown on the face. Make up is artificial.
10 ReplyNo. Makeup is a mans makeup. Men need to get their shit together and start using it too like they did historically.

1 yNot sure if I would call it makeup. But the fact is that for guys, it is very difficult to change their hairstyle a lot. So having beard in various lengths or no beard at all gives them a different look for a change.

10 Reply653 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I think you have it backwards. A beard is what happens naturally to the face, shaving is not natural
10 Reply5K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. It goes way beyond make-up, and not in a good way.
00 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. Definitely it hides their fade. I still love beards tho

@beefcakebradybatson omg I meant face lol

Except it's not something any guys can just control. If they naturally have bad beards, it can't mask them. And they're a part of our bodies so they have their own limitation and can't deceive anyone fully unlike make ups.
@Aiko_E_Lara I have a bad beard I'm going to shed in the next few days !!!
- 1 y
@beefcakebradybatson Yeah and no make up can fix that. That's why they're not the same.
1 yBeards dont do that it only sharpens the jawline, adds length to the face and makes a guy look more masculine

1 yno because a beard is not a thing you buy in a store to then stick on your face. so it's not at all like "makeup".
01 Reply- 1 y
while makeup is supposed to fool us about genetics, beard tells the truth about genetics.
1 yThat makes 0 sense. A beard is naturally grown, while makeup is an artificial enhancer
10 Reply315 opinions shared on Fashion & Beauty topic. I suppose it can be in a way, But I think makeup is more toxic than having a beard.
It depends what most Women think.
