Doesn't bother me one bit.

Just like other clothes, swim suits are fashion. Women want to look cute.

The evolution of women's swim wear has always been met with controversy. Look at the history of women's swim wear beginning in 1900. What was once considered scandalous is hilarious.

I remember when my prepubescent sister and all the other little girls absolutely had to get bikinis in the early 1960s. It wasn't because they wanted to show off their bodies. It was because bikinis were the fashion and the girls wanted to look cool.

Over time, bikinis became smaller and smaller. Now women have lots of styles to choose from, including thongs.

By now, everyone is familiar with women's figures, especially legs and asses. Even street clothes leave little to the imagination.
A thong covers a woman's nipples and vulva. So what if the rest of her skin is visible at the beach or pool?

Tiny bikinis are good for tanning.

If a woman is comfortable enough in her own skin to wear a thong, more power to her. There is nothing lewd or shameful about the female form.

If she looks good, it brightens my day. If I don't think she looks good, I don't have to look. But I generally celebrate the female form and women who are confident about their appearance.

Literally nothing wrong with it. Bodies are bodies. Some cultures are kind of prudish about bodies, others don't care at all. I myself have sort of seen this for myself as I've been to both Brazil and the United States; Brazil usually not being very prudish, the United States usually being prudish.

Women in thong bikinis are more or less the female equivalent of men in speedos. Nothing wrong with it, though some more conservative people can find it shocking.

Despite what I wrote about the United States cheeky and/or thong bikinis have been increasingly common though. And my girlfriend wears cheeky (but not thong). And I used to think cheeky/thong looked vulgar, but getting more used to it I actually think they look better than full coverage bikini bottoms. Full coverage bikini bottoms sort of create an unattractive granny panty/diaper butt sort of aesthetic. Not that anyone should care what anyone else thinks of them, but just saying what I think.

Similarly to what's been happening with women's bikini bottoms, men's shorts getting shorter. From shorts that used to be mid-calf, now mid-thigh length shorts being increasingly common. And like with cheeky bikinis I thought it looked bad at first, but I actually find the shorter shorts look better as they make the legs look longer. So basically both women and men have been showing more skin, lol. As a bisexual person, not complaining.

I think it is OK as long as you know who will see you and you take that into consideration, for example you might not want to do that at a family gathering w a bunch of teen male cousins, or you might not want to do that in some sort of work social event or whatever, I have had two weird experiences doing this, in one situation I was on a boat with my dad and some of his friends and one of them was WAY too interested, in another situation I was on the beach near the hotel w my fiance on a trip he took for his work and then we ran into one of his company’s executives and I was stuck standing there with them while they chatted for 20 minutes, I smiled and acted normal but I was super embarrassed so, it is just something to think about.

Also just to explain how I feel about this type of thing, I do not actually care if anybody sees my body or even sees me naked but I do care if anybody is upset or pervy, or views me negatively for it and how that relates to this is, I would not want any parents upset if their kids see me, I would not want anybody to stare or touch me in unwanted ways and I would not want to be seen as slutty so, those are the reasons I would think about it not bc I care if anybody sees my butt, it is a body part everybody has them so in a way who cares.

My thoughts are roughly the same as @ShellyB. I am mindful of where I wear one. Normally, when I go to public pools, I'll have on a bikini cover and go pick a spot away from where the families might be. If I am going to a family thing, yeah I'm avoiding a thong. Regular public, I'll try to be away from families. As far as I'm concerned, people getting upset over a thong bikini and using kids to as to project their discomfort is idiotic. Kids don't give a flying fuck what anyone's wearing. Only time they'll notice is if someone's making a fuss over it. Teens will notice, sure, but that's a whole other thing.

In first intent, I honestly think nothing at all, as I'm not really exposed to the topic anyway. Thinking twice, and based on what I think of fashion in the streets, or at the beach, I have a positive view on the matter. It feels hopeful to me. As I believe that when women are feeling comfy then it  could be because they feel safe enough . It  could be because antisocial churches and dogmas are losing influence. At the end of the day why do you care what someone else is doing? If you’re there to swim and enjoy your time just ignore them and don’t pay any attention. Because many of those women are there wearing that to attempt to get attention…. If you give them attention whether that be positive or negative you’re giving them what they want.

If you’re at the pool or beach just foucs on enjoying your time. I don’t have time to wonder what everyone else is doing so long as they’re covered.

Honestly I thing pretty much positive and progressive.  Exercising theirs personal freedom and liberty. If you are on some nude beach or at a private pool with all adults, fine.

If you are someplace where there are children and families, I think you are being rude and disrespectful because you know at least some of them would object.
