Does a curling wand/straightener combo work pretty well or not?

My curling wand went out, but my older straightener still works. I was considering getting a combination curler/straighter if both tools work as well as the individual ones. Sometimes when they combine tools, they simply do not work as well. Do they work as well, and if so is there one that you might recommend above the others?

You’re right to be suspicious of 2‑in‑1 tools 😅 Most curl/straighten combos don’t perform *quite* as well as dedicated tools, especially for long‑lasting curls. They can be fine for travel or occasional use, though.

If you want a combo that’s actually decent, look at the Dyson Corrale or the GHD Platinum+ with rounded edges for curling. For frequent curling, I’d still buy a separate wand.

I honestly haven't seen one, but you can curl your hair with a flat iron. I honestly like the cheap Conair curling irons, too. I think I paid $20 for mine? Not bad. I've had it for at least 6 years. Though, I've pretty much moved onto hot rollers since I like the results of those better.

I have an ancient Conair Geometricks from the late '80s that has a bunch of different attachments, including a curling wand, some funky shaped curling attachments (like triangle and zig-zag), and a crimper/straightener attachment. Everything works but the straightener plates in the crimper/straightener. They do absolutely nothing! If you flip them over and do the crimper side, that works. From what I've read, the straightening plates never worked well on those, even back in the '80s. Not sure if that's relevant at all to today's hair tools, but it was a massive flop with this one!
