If you talk about those apps people can use to have their looks rated by internet users, then it's anyway a case of

Which means that whatever good or bad the results are, they're bad because it leads people to think that looks matter in a vacuum. They don't. We're never judged in a vacuum anyway. There's always a context from which judgement is passed.
Another issue, lack of consensus around the terms "average" and "above average". Because looks are subjective. And because we don't use the same words in the same way within the same context. We don't mean what we think we mean, we're just imagining we understand what we're saying. But most likely we don't, for the aforementioned reasons.
Yeah, I suppose that can be true. And aside from looks, attractiveness can be heavily influenced by personality. Things like intelligence, sense of humor, confidence, a sense of style, and the ability to flirt can make a person seem attractive and that will bias how other people perceive your looks in my experience.
I think it can be considered both ways. Some people don't photograph well but are still good looking offline, however there are people who are Instagram perfect who use makeup and filters, but when you see them in real life, look way different.
Absolutely. Online and in‑person attractiveness are judged through completely different filters, so someone who seems “average” in photos can seem far more appealing face‑to‑face.
Yes, totally. The internet skews everything. Online, people often compare you to heavily filtered, edited, or carefully posed photos, so the “average” bar looks unrealistically high.
In real life, your vibe, confidence, voice, smile, how you move and interact can make you much more attractive. Charisma and presence don’t translate fully through a screen, so you can be rated higher in person than online.

Look at tinder, a lot of guys there draw a pattern and conclude you need to be a 7/10 to even start having a slither of a chance of standing out there even if in real life your close to good looking and some women do have an interest in you even if quietly.
Yes. I think most people tend to look better in person
It depends on the perception of the person who is looking. Opinions about looks really do vary.
I look the same as my pictures
Pics do not do justice. Better in person.
I don't think I look good in real life either.
Yep, agree.
