What is a conversation starter or ice breaker for texting my crush?

Boring, long context, they are lazy to text you back.
Instead, comment about something interesting

Text her and be like hey what's up or how are you. The thing is with girls is that if we tend to feel like the conversation is boring is and that it isn't going any where then we're usually going to be hesitant about responding . I know something that usually works for me is saying something like "Hey, wanna play 20 questions?" Or like if you send her a funny picture or a funny joke. Ya know that kind of stuff.

Talk to her about what she wants her life to be like when she is older. Don't always start the conversation with "hey, what's up?" It's boring. Instead try starting it with a funny story or something instead of hi. You don't always need a proper opening for a conversation.
