Ask him about a topic that interests him, such as, do you like golfing? Biking? Chess? Fishing? Sharing boating expenses? Than suggest an event. It does not have to be expensive, you could suggest a hike to see the salmon run in the lakes, or a cultural festival or religious event etc…

Absolutely NEVER say "I'm so and so from xyz class."

You don't want to come off as insecure, that you're afraid you're so boring that he wouldn't remember you. The key is to assume the premise. You text him enthusiastically, assuming the premise that he has been excitedly anticipating your call.

If he seems confused, you feign insult that he doesn't remember you. Or you call him out on his neg. Or you can give him a flirt compliment, "I guess you have beautiful women ask for you number all the time, huh?" See how I snuck in self aggrandizement in there? See how it assumes the premise that you're beautiful?

Sure, this is a bit of a masculine approach cocky and self assured, and maybe that's not you, maybe you're shy. Maybe you can be good at playing the virginal shrinking violet, and that's fine, and I supposed encouraged, but like you say relational context matters.

And generally speaking, a sort of voice that comes from a confidence, that already assumes the premise is good and can be used in either archetype.

After all, everybody gets nervous with the prospect of this dating game, so a little help and encouragement can go a long way to really get your target to warm up to you.
