What does it mean when a guy calls you "sweetheart"?

Lol, stupid question, here we go! I kinda like this guy in my class, he doesn't approach me but he smiled at me and then when it was break and I was coming back into the room he was standing in the doorway and then he just kinda held the door open for me and smiled and said "I got you sweetheart" lol. I also had another guy say to me "I love you sweetheart" and the other guy is not one to say things like that, he doesn't call women sweetheart or nothing like that. I wonder why I am being called sweetheart lately? Lol. Just curious, does it mean anything deeper? Thank you! :)

In this context I'd say it's flirting - trying to get to somewhere with you. For some people however, it's a habit and they may tend to call almost anyone that :-)

Lol, oh no! Well the one guy does't know my name. Cause this is a new semester, so I really don't know this guy. But the other guy definitely knows me and knows my name haha. But yeah, I know a lot of my girlfriends have had that problem where guys would call them a certain pet name only because they didn't remember, :( Lol, that is so messed up!
