What are good conversation topics when talking to your crush?

Okay so me and my crush talk a lot; almost everyday. We live far apart so it's hard to meet up. Instead, we FaceTime. Facetiming is fun but a bit awkward as the whole time he just stares at me (I even poke fun about this to him and he just blushes) anyways, we talk so much but I'm always the one picking conversation topics. He initiates our convos everyday but through text I feel like I'm the one doing most of the work and through FaceTime it's even worse; as I said before, he just stares at me smiling and asks me to pick something to talk about. What should I do? I feel tired of picking the conversation topics but when I ask him to pick he just says he doesn't know what he wants to talk about.

Let one topics as into the next. For example let's say you're talking about sports. You can ask him what his fav sport is and when he answers he'll probably ask you too. Let's say you do gymnastics. You can tell him that's your fav sport and then tell him a funny story or something or what tricks you can do. Flirt too. Just let one thing lead to the next. Just be easy going and it should come naturally

Talk about something that happened
Let that lead to you and how you can relate, of you can't, state your opinion on the situation etc.

If there's any awkward or super long silences, just be like "oh that reminds me/oh I just remembered, did I ever tell you about the time when ________/did I ever ask you about ______"
And honestly its possible to talk about anything as long as you develop your answers enough (lol it sounds like school but u know what I mean). What I mean is that you shouldn't answer with just yes and no, or short answers. For example, if he asks you about a sport you play don't just be like "yeah", be like "yeah, I went to training last week and ________"
