OK well my boyfriend and I have been dating for a month now and I really want a hickey. How can I ask or gesture him so that he will give me one.

Just tell him how much you love it when he sucks on your neck. Tell him to suck it very hard. I have given my Girlfriend hickeys before, but never really on purpose. It was from just sucking one spot too hard for too long. But do be honest with him that you do want one, or he'll feel bad after seeing the mark he created.

Also, I recommend getting him to do it in a spot that you can hide, at least that way it will be something private between the two of you. Enjoy.
