Do I restart the conversation with this girl? If yes, how do I restart it?

Ok, here's the deal: I liked this, we started dating but she broke it off for other reasons than me. Now, one of those reasons was mock exams and exam pressure. I haven't spoken to her since (4-ish months). The real exam season ends in two weeks, I was thinking of striking up a conversation with her again through social media/texting (that's how we mostly communicated).
Should I do this?
I mean will it be a disaster or something else?
If I do restart this conversation, how should I do it? I was thinking about sending her the 🐢emoji (that was our thing: she was the poodle and I was the turtle) and then wing it and see where it goes. Or I was thinking about asking her if she knows this artist I was researching for my Art GCSE because the girl was in a few of the artist's photos. I could then use that as a base to make a conversation out of.
What do you people think? Any advice appreciated.

I would just send her a nice little "Hey, hows it going? Did you survive exams? Keep it short, to the point but have a question in there so she can respond. Dont overthink it though. 41/2 months has been a good amount of time. I say go for it.

Just send her a message see what she’s like if she’s continuing the conversation that’s a good sign just let her take control for a bit. 😊
