He doesn't open my snap but his score goes up?

So this guy and I have been snapchatting for a while - kinda off and on. He had a crush on me last year but nothing ever came out of it, even though I told him I like him. Anyways, now we are snapchatting and I have the yellow heart with him. But I noticed that he won't open my snap sometimes but his score will go up by two, meaning he's snapping someone else. I don't want to sound paranoid but I just want to know why someone would do this. Is is trying to get the yellow heart with someone else? Does he just not want to take a selfie? its kinda annoying and i just want to know if im wasting my time. Also do you guys do this?

He eventually opens the snap the same day, so it doesn't seem like he's "ignoring" me
