How do you take rejection, and how do you reject?

Question

I've been rejected a SH! T LOAD of times.

If it's over the phone or through some type of online app. I simply read the rejection message & move on.

If it's in person, I smile and thank her for giving me her attention for a few seconds lol

How I reject:

If it's a girl, (in person) I tell her "I have a gf"

If it's online. I ignore her advance

It's a gay guy, I tell him "I don't play for that team" and take it as a compliment

Wow you got rejected? But you're good looking... anyways in 8th grade my crush called me ugly one day and I cried right then & there in class. (In context it wasn't rejection but it felt like it) I was so deeply hurt because he was the 1st crush I ever tried to get to know. I use to just like guys from afar & never talk to them.

I don't experience rejection often because I don't put myself out there anymore. I have the mindset of expecting my crush not to like me back. I don't get surprised, disappointed nor do I cry. Sometimes I wonder if something's wrong with me since guys rarely like me back. But if they seem interested I never believe it, I feel like it's a joke.

When I dabbled in online dating I either said "sorry no, but I hope you find what you're looking for" OR I just never replied.

With a guy I kinda know from class, I'm not as straightforward because I don't want things to be awkward since I'll see them around.
I hate ignoring people so I just be friendly if they talk to me. Some just keep trying but unless they full blown confess feelings I play dumb to their advances. I don't want to hurt his feelings & reject him.
Once I tried to nip it in the bud early & the guy claimed he was just trying to be friends. Nah that's BS he was just trying to save face. (All I told him was that he needs to keep it platonic because I'm not the one for him.) But I shouldn't have let it dragged on because from the start he was calling me pretty and kept asking for my number. I told him no in the beginning but he wouldn't stop asking so I gave it to him!

With total strangers that approach me in public I don't feel as bad to reject them. I don't have time to make up a fake # and I get straight to the point. I tell them "no sorry". I'm also a bad liar + I hate lying but the 2 times I lied & said I had a boyfriend it didn't work!
One said we could be friends. I told him "no my boyfriend wouldn't like that". The guy said 'it's not about what he likes, it's what we like' 😂😂👏 that was the best comeback ever. I still had to reject him though since he was way too old.

The other I gave my # to even though I didn't want to. I tried to be nice with my rejection but I felt he'd yell or hit me if I didn't give him my #. I said "no sorry I have a boyfriend but you have good taste". Without hesitation he said 'It's ok we can be friends'... he kept texting me even though I told him to stop and that my boyfriend was getting mad. Finally I stopped responding to his texts & eventually he stopped

I'd always just say "Thank you, I'm flattered you like me, but I am not interested in pursuing a relationship." I can appreciate how difficult it must be for someone to go through the mental stress of asking someone out and risk rejection. So I guess the response should always be a balancing act of being absolute and final, but still trying to be kind.

As for me being rejected. Not happened this far when I have asked, however I wouldn't ask just anyone out - it would be someone I knew and was friends with. I genuinely it was going to happen when I asked my current partner out, and I just sort of braced myself for rejection. I couldn't really help getting a little upset in the moment, even though I wanted to seem calm. So it was one of those moments where your emotions just run wild a bit for me. Although if he had rejected me I would have respected his wishes and ask that we remain the same close friends we were back then.

I take it with understanding that I simply can't be everyone's "type", that various things may have come to play - differing lifestyles, characteristics, values... est. which makes unappealing.

I do it face to face as it's more respectful that way, and so he can read my expressions and know I'm serious in my words. I then say something along the lines of, "With the time we've spent, I feel what we seek for in each other dosen't match up and we're moving in different directions. I'm glad we took a shot at this and I value the time we've shared, but I think it's time for me to move on now." Straightforward and nonblaming.

You win some you lose some, is my motto here. I won't interact with the person less because I've been rejected, that would be a waste to me. Rejected or not, he's still going to be that cool person

rejecting:
A girl: Sorry, but I'm straight af
Online: Sorry, but I don't see myself capable of going Long Distance
A guy: I'm not interested, Not looking for anything, or I ban him straight to the friendzone

I've mever been rejected because I never asked out anyone. When I reject, I just lie about taking their number and I never call them >< I usually say no sorry but when they insist that's what I do.

I take rejection well. I can easily move on from rejection. As for me rejecting someone... I'm straight up. I'll say I'm not interested if I'm not. If they ask why, I'll tell them why. No need to lie or sugarcoat. I hit me with the hard truth. If a girl approaches me, I tell her I don't swing that way but thanks for asking.

I pretend that it doesn't phase me. Then later I go home and cry or just feel really really bad about myself. I've tried to change myself in hopes he'll change his mind but that doesn't work.

My rejection line is: I'm trying to focus on school right now.

Lol you'd think it'll be more guys commenting especially on here, I honestly don't ask to get rejected. Maybe one similar thing where I asked where we stood bt me and a guy but there's nothing you can do but move on lol

If someone rejects me, I just take it as if it's nothing. I ask him if it's what he wants and if he says yes, I leave. It affects me but I don't show it.
If I reject someone, I want to see him in real and tell him in person. I just tell him why (the reason of breaking) and that we break up and normally he leaves, or I do first sometimes.

taking rejections, well just moving on with my life and rejecting, well sometimes I use the same like "I have a boyfriend" or I just say that the person isn't my type or like you said ignoring and showing that I have absolutely no interest

I guess it depends how and the situation.
