What does it mean when a guy cuddles with you but doesn't kiss you?

I met a guy who goes to the same college two years ago and he randomly added me on Facebook. I never showed any interest in him but he kept showing slight interest in me (messaging me on msn, texting me randomly etc). Last year finally I broke up with my boyfriend and started actually noticing this guy. We texted constantly and spoke quite a bit. This past summer we spoke on MSN almost everyday, flirting, texting while at work and he even made excuses to give me a ride back home from work on weekends. I eventually fell for him after a few months and told him how I felt. But he said he didn't want to pursue a relationship because he didn't want to risk a friendship. He then said he never liked me but thought I was cute. We still texted every now and then but I started keeping my distance to help myself get over him. He noticed that I was doing that and finally texted me asking me if I wanted to talk about it, and I told him that talking about it wouldn't help since I know where both of us stand. Then a week later he texted me happy birthday at 12 am and kept texting me through the night asking me to come over if I didn't have a place to stay or needed something. Me being under the influence, went to go visit him in his room to just say hi. One thing led to another and we ended up cuddling in his bed. He seemed really attracted to me and wanted to go further but kept holding back. I told him what we were doing is wrong since I'm the only one with feelings and he doesn't even like me back. He said he knew that and that's why he wasn't kissing me. I told him again that I cared about him and he said he cared about me as a friend. I'm just really confused about this guy. I left him as soon as he said that and its been two days since the incident and he hasn't texted me since. I'm wondering if he's confused, likes someone else or is just afraid of commitment? or am I just thinking too much about the situation entirely?

It sounds to me like he really isn't romantically interested in you, but he still likes you as a friend. It could be that he wanted to see if he had or could develop further feelings for you. Maybe he was lonely that night. Maybe he's one of those people who loves to know someone likes them, even though they don't like that person back. Honestly, I wouldn't pursue it.

I think he was lonely. Had he been drinking too? It's not fair that he did that when he knew how you felt. Maybe he knew you would be drinking (your birthday) and thought he could take advantage of it, and then realized it was a bad idea. Just a thought.

Forget about this guy. He just wants a FWB. My advise cut him out of your life completely. Don't even be his friend online, until you know that you are completely over him. You will only get hurt by this man.
