Trending & News Personally, I just think that's cheap. It's almost as if your saying that your current girlfriend is just as good as your last one. Shouldn't your current one be *better* than your last one? I could be guessing, but I would suggest that this is how your current girlfriend might feel if she ever found out. Every woman wants to feel that they are someone unique and special to you. If you treat them the same as every other girlfriend you've had, then they are just another in a long line of women and they won't feel that they mean that much to you.
The only exception I could see is if you current girlfriend saw the jewelry, asked if she could wear it, you told her where it came from, and she didn't care.
I'm sure there are a few women that would agree with my assessment or beat me mercilessly for being a moron. :)
I think you guys are funny. The way I see it, the ring is a symbol of his love/heart which he gave to the ex.. and since it didn't work out he wants to give his 'heart' to someone else. I think it is wasteful. You may think I'm cheap and price doesn't matter but that's what is wrong with relationships and weddings nowadays. You spend unwisely for an overrated institution.
I would give it to her, if she doesn't want it then I won't buy her any engagement ring. I'd just go on and marry her. I she wants to leave, tough.
I'm going to have to go with a big fat NO on that one. No one wants an old gift pawned off on them. It gives it a bad connotation. Do you want your present girlfriend to think about you and your ex-girlfriend every time she wears a piece of jewelry you gave her? Especially a promise ring. That would just remind her that that promise meant nothing and so why should this one?
I would say the only exception would be if she saw the jewelry, pointed it out that she really liked it and you told her that it was the exes and you didn't no what to do with it and then ask her if she wanted it. But the old jewelry should never be milestone jewelry in a new relationship.
Absolutely not. I can see it maybe being okay with regular jewelry, but when it comes to a promise ring or an engagement ring, anything that has meaning like that, definitely NOT! When you re-use a promise ring like that it would make your current girlfriend feel like you don't feel any differently about her than your ex. Girls like to receive things that are picked out specially for them. It loses the meaning behind it if you're just re-gifting any old thing you have lying around. Especially something tied to an ex.
NEVER. You bought it for another girl. It CANNOT be reused. What we're seeing is - at best - that you didn't put any thought into it - obviously, because you bought it for HER. At worst, we're thinking you're getting your jollies by watching us wear something that belonged to your ex and that you'd much rather have the ex around/wearing it than us. Never give your girlfriend something that reminds you of your ex.

It would honestly make me feel like he cared enough about the old girlfriend to buy one just for her, but he don't care enough about me to do the same. Everytime I looked at it, I would compare myself to her, and wonder if he's doing the same. Or wonder if the reason he gave me the ring is because he's not completly over her, and he doesn't want to let go of the ring because of that. Just no. I would rather not have one at all, than have a recycled one from an ex girlfriend.
personally if you love someone price doesn't matter! my ex though I think he just did it be sweet but now I think about it he really didn't give a sh*t, he gave me like a ten dollar ring but I loved it because it came from the heart...he didn't understand why
Nope, and its not about the money thing, you gave this ring to another girl, it meant something to her, and giving it to us, makes it recycled, and used...it won't make any difference on a new girlfriend, we don't want to be associated with the old one.
NO NO NO NO NO. Totally agree with Sunshine about the exceptions. If it's expensive jewelry you could sell it and use the money to buy your new girl something just for her, but even that's iffy with some girls.
i don't know how much I would spend on a ring... I'm too young lol. I always wanted to craft my own. that way the ring that we have is unique. :) id have to learn how to make one though
No! If I get a piece of jewelery I know it was picked especially for me. I don't want to think that it was his ex-girlfriends. I don't want it to have touched her or his previous ones ever!
Lol, bro. Seems like you just lost some good cash. Maybe you should sell it to a pawn shop and not do the promise-ring thing anymore.
And before I read the answers I thought it would be maybe OK but no...NOOOOOOOO it's not ok.
No, Nobody will want that. Not a new girlfriend or boyfriend. It's absolutely wicked! How could anyone be that unreasonable? No! It just shouldn't happen. I'll neva try anything like that.
i would feel weird. I'd rather heave a NEW one especially special for me.
I would definitely say no to re-gifting a promise ring. As for the $5000 leo diamond... wow! Hope that ends better
I will never do that.
how much I would spend on the ring ? 5000 divided by zero (5000/0)
i don't think that's a good idea... if you did, what until she find out! then your f'd lol
Obviously the promise ring thing didn't work out for you last time. I'd think long and hard about doing it again, and buy a new one you cheap ass.
you don't do it ever!
General rule of thumb is what 3 months' pay?
NO NO NO
