A friend of mine ended up with his first girlfriend after trying to set her up with his mate.
It culminated in the girl leaning across the table in the pub, placing one hand on his knee and snogging him in front of his mate - my friend was not getting the messages she was sending!
Some guys (myself) included can be oblivious to subtle approaches, so be prepared to try something direct if these don't work, for example put your hand in his and tell him how you feel.
To be fair, at your age, it's probably best not to come out your comfort zone. Work with him as you do, and wait for the opportunity
