Why might a guy on Instagram DM me privately to say he likes my picture instead of just clicking like on the picture?

Is it to start a conversation and it’d be too much to start a convo and click like? Or is he hiding something? I know you guys can’t answer for sure but you can take an educated guess based on your own actions and reasons or why you throng he may.

That still doesn’t really tell me much of intention other than its sexual interest of some sort. Also, guys can compliment women without intentions other than to make her feel good and just enjoy a friendly conversation surely.

Obviously I can't say what their actual intentions are, but as you already said, it's in some way sexually motivated. I think it's safe to say that at very least they get some sort of sexual thrill out of it.
