How much trouble can you get in for breaking into a neighborhood pool you don't have a membership to?

There's a really nice neighborhood that was added on to the neighborhood I live in about a year ago. So far it only has about 15 homes in it and a lot of lots for sale. They just finished making the neighborhood pool a month ago with a summer membership of $600 or so. Me and a buddy of mine are thinking about taking a couple girls to the pool overnight sometime and hop the fence to get in. The gate has a pass code and it's open 24/7 to members I believe. The pool is only for people who live in the new addition and they have a camera at the front gate but I'm pretty sure it only views the gate and can not see the pool or where we would climb in.

So how much trouble can you get in? It is trespassing, but if we get caught what can the cops do to us? I'd think the only thing they can do is kick us out. Thanks for your advice!

You can't bank on the fact that the cop will give you a lecture and tell you never to come back. I have encountered some cops that are extremely arrogant and will make an example of people. If you encounter a prick of a cop, you could very well be arrested for trespassing. Maybe go for a dip then get the hell out of there. lol

Good thinkin haha. There's hardly anyone that lives in the neighborhood and the closest home to the pool is like 40 yards away. So I'm not too concerned about people calling the cops on us but the camera is what I'm worried about...well maybe it only records evidence so I could possibly get away scott free.

Doesn't matter if many people don't live in the neighborhood. They could have off site security that monitor cameras for them. If they see someone on site then they could send the cops. Especially with a pool..because if someone sneaks in and drowns, the facility can be held liable. Not trying to ruin your fun...just making you think a little.

Yeah thanks for that advice! Hmm I'll have to think about it because that neighborhood does have hidden cameras. Off site security sucks. I don't think a quick dip would be worth it...i'd rather have a nice 30 minutes and not get busted by cops.

Maybe try a neighborhood YMCA? You'll have to pay a few bucks but at least you'd be 'safe.' :P

The facility would not be held liable for any damage because the party have involved have taken the risk and any damage would amount to contributory damage, there is insufficient proximity between the facility and trespassers they owe no duty!

Call you local cop shop and tell them what you're planning to do sure they could help.

It is trespass to property and each state law will probably differ on the penalty, if it's proved that you intentionally broke the law then you're in trouble. Don't do it!

If they want to get the police involved, you might have to pay a fine, But most pools would just kick you out before calling the cops I would imagine...

Yeah there's nobody that works at the pool and no lifeguard...it's swim at your own risk kind of thing. What do you think about the camera?

I think it would be pretty easy to find out if you can sneak in without getting caught on video...lol

Other than getting caught sneaking in, you shouldn't worry about being on camera, unless you are drawing lots of attention to yourself, or if their is not other people around you that you can blend in with.

If they catch you trespassing they will probably only call the cops if you refuse to leave :)
