Why does he rub my ear?

I've recently began dating this guy and last time we cuddled, he was tracing tiny circles on the back of my hand, then my lower back, moved his way up to my shoulder, my neck, and advanced to my ear. I thought it was a strange gesture at first(as I understood my hand, back, shoulder and neck), but I really liked it.

Is this only a gesture of affection? Or is he possibly searching for sensitive spots? Because my earlobe is definitely one of the spots that gives me goosebumps. He would apply gradual pressure and I couldn't help but arch my back and tense up. He would go to my shoulder and my neck, but return to my ear again. I grabbed his shirt that time. That's how sensitive it is.

I don't exactly feel comfortable asking him, as I've just started dating him, so I'm asking you guys...

He probably has an ear fetish but in a nice way as he is not doing anything nasty to your ear but only playing with it. Let him do it and have some fun with him,
