How do I leave a good impression on the girl I like without making it obvious I like her? I would make a move but I don’t want to make things weird within my friend group (for context, I’m 17).

First check if she is showing you signs of interest in her body language, there are loads of YouTube videos that will educate you on this.

Then show an interest in her, don't be sleazy, be genuine and confident, don't try to impress her, just be confident in yourself. If you do choose to flirt, keep it subtle, uncertainty builds tension. Then monitor her body language and other signs to see how she responds.

Never make a move unless you are getting signs from her.

Before I answer that. What have you got against her knowing how you really feel about her? The reason i ask is because girls aren't stupid. They usually know when a guy likes them

Honestly, it’s probably because I feel more comfortable around her when I’m under the impression that she doesn’t know. I’m also nervous of the unknown; last time I told a girl that I liked her, it just made things awkward which was really too bad because she’s great person who I wish I could’ve better kept in touch with (we now live on different continents).

Well then, if you're happy to stay as friends with her even though you would dearly love to be her boyfriend, who am I to tell you you're wrong? Treat her then the same way you would as if she was your sister. Be friendly, tease her, act aloof around her sometimes.
One thing you should be wary of however, it's going to really sting if she decides to date another guy.

I would take time to get to know her and chat with her casually. Feel her out. What she likes/doesn't like and then find common things that you have. Focus on those things in conversation as she will be interested.

Be kind, smile, be funny if you can. Just be yourself. Don't force yourself into being someone you aren't because your true self will always come out eventually.

I’m really not sure. I’ve made a move plenty of times before but this one just feels different. I would really rather be her friend without her knowing I like her than have tension between us and our friend group.

She’s not all that interested in guys. My best friend is really good friends with her but he’s known her since elementary school and he says she’s really secretive and has never openly shown interest towards any guy. I just don’t think it’s worth the risk of letting her know I like her given that she’s hasn’t expressed any interest in any guy in the past.
