Long story short. My 43y. o. coworker asked me (F34) when are we going to drink together? I'm not someone who drinks a lot at work gatherings or parties so I'm confused why would he ask me that in particular. Is he flirting?

I could assume he’s interested asking you on a date. If you don’t want to go that’s fine be honest. If you’re interested but don’t like his idea. Maybe pick somewhere else to go and just explain you’re not really wanting to go there.

This is a way for some people to express interest. If you like him then you can reply, “I’m not so concerned about the alcohol but I expect the steak or seafood to be good.”

It would be a turn-off for me. Okay, I am not too bad to look at. I have had girl known two weeks through groups flirty etc. Just being nice buying sharing food... martinis, and getting to know one another like friends... basically grab me by the shirt, jack me up outside of establishment, "when you going to ask me out... that would be a great night." That vibe is not an encouragement for me... alcohol excused but it killed the "hardon" forever. Not much difference in implication. Let's go drinking and F-ing in my mind...

Probably flirting or on the road to flirting. So, have a drink with him. BUT... please, please, please, please do NOT do anything more than a friendly two coworkers having a drink. Workplace flirting, liking, crushing, and romance never ever ever ends well.

He could be. Could just be joking too if you both work in an environment that drives you crazy. Maybe he heard you talking about drinking w someone else or what you drink or the last time you drank. If you two get along well at work maybe he knows he can joke w you.
