  It is different for men. Compliment is visual and doing. Words of affirmation, listening, and attending to is usually woman compliment or love expression. Maybe we are talking about different thing?

My crush once told me I am the most loyal friend and someone with a big heart.
Not many people are loyal in the world.
My friends mother told me, "you have a good reputation with the girls. Be glad it wasn't notorious:)".
My other female friend told me with flattery," I am going to name my son after you". She didn't have a son at the time.

  I'm less concerned about what people say then what they do. I can take all kinds of disrespect from someone if I know deep down they love me. So I guess what I'm saying is the best compliment a person can give me is in the form of an action. It doesn't have to be a big action. Just something that says "I'm giving of myself to you".
