I have a new class with about 20 something of us. I sit in the front and There’s this attractive guy that always comes in and sits next to me or somewhat behind me. Today he sat really really close to me. Not super close but close to where it’s kind of awkward.
We were partnered up on our class website for a peer review and we were with this one other girl. When we were in our groups he said how good the other girls work was then said the same thing for mine and said he didn’t have anything really to criticize about it. He’s very sweet too and easygoing. All three of us had a conversation that flowed naturally.
We had to critique each other’s poems and I wrote my poem about looking in the mirror and seeing beauty but my insides slowly starting to take over my outsides and turn me dark. The guy said how he agreed with my poem and thought my poem was great and he loved how I contrasted my outside vs my insides so I don't know if he was agreeing that I was beautiful lol. I’ve been told a lot that I am but I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea.
I did mention that I’m dating someone casually when we were talking about birds lol so I hope if he was interested that doesn’t deter him because I’m definitely interested. He sits next to me everyday so how do I get him to talk to me more.

I think you should make the move. I know it’s scary, but that may be the case for him as well. Also since you took it upon yourself to mention that you’re seeing someone, even though you’re still open to dating it may now seem like you’re taken. So unless he’s the sort of dude to still pursue a taken woman (which you wouldn’t want anyway but that’s another story), then it’s up to you to get the ball rolling.
Ask him about his interests. People are usually more than willing to discuss what interests they habve and it would give you greater insight into his personality. If he starts telling you how great he is than you can always move
