@Valkyria Nowadays I'd just hug her, but back when I was 18-19 years old, a girl who was really outgoing and friendly, and who I was admittedly attracted to (wouldn't really call it a crush though), turned out to have moved to an apartment really close to mine after we left school, and one day I ran into her in a nearby supermarket. I think we just said hey to each other, and I felt very very awkward. I didn't know what to say and I just wanted to keep going. Even if I had known what to say, I never saw myself having a chance with anyone, let alone someone gorgeous and popular like that. So I just tried to move past her, thinking we were (hopefully) done, but then she opened her arms trying to get a hug from me. Surprised and panicked I just kept going, awkwardly swooping under her arms and avoiding the hug.
I don't remember exactly what happened after. I think I turned around and... smiled or something maybe, and then I don't know if we just kept going about our business. I've no idea what she must've thought happened there.

@Valkyria Going back to your original question, my impression is that a lot of girls and women just have a habit of hugging anyone they're on remotely friendly terms with. At least here they seem to do that, so I wouldn't ever really think much of it.

That's what I do to the guys I find attractive. xD I just ignore them but mainly because I know they would never fall for someone like me. If they like me or want to talk to me, they would have to approach me first. If we make eye contact and he smiles, I will smile back and hope he initiates conversation. If not, then it wasn't meant to be.

Wow, almost everyone including me says eye contact, and yet i feel like eye contact is also actually being focused on the stuff you're doing rather than taking ones eyes off the ball of what they're doing. Ah well , 😃 eye contact is usually too easily overwritten as much as body language, lol they'd be wrong every other time ,😬🥱🥱🥱
