What excuse to start a conversation worked for you?

The real cause why dating these days is so hard is just because people don't interact face to face.

Hence the ability to strike a conversation with strangers, making it feel natural, is probably the most impactful thing a person can do for their dating life.

So lets collect some excuses you used to approach people, in real life, and that worked out to get a date. Either by you or on you.

I will begin. By me:

- Girls were talking a photo, and I offered.

- A girl had no place to stay, and I offered. This happened twice.

- After a yoga class, I just talked about the class.

- Made a joke about what girls were eating.

On me:

- A girl asked me if I wanted to go to a "girls party".

- A girl just asked me to come with her.

- A girl grabbed my hand and pulled me towards other girl.

- A girl just started talking with me about misc.

Most likely most effective way, according to WikiHow: Just introduce yourself:

- "Hi, I’m Jane. I don’t think I’ve gotten your name yet"

- “I see you around a lot, but I don’t think we’ve actually met. I’m Monique.”

I was standing in the checkout line at the supermarket and a nice looking girl was in front of me. She was wearing a jersey of one of the local sports teams that happenedcto be in the finals for the championship. I started talking about the team and she was a huge fan and before I knew it we were outside on the sidewalk still talking. Too bad I was married because she seemed very nice

I don't really think that much about it. I just talk to everyone around me. That includes guys and not just girls. I'm genuinely interested in talking to guys too (not sexually, mind you). So I just talk to everybody around me and sometimes I get in a deep convo with a pretty girl and so I ask her out and she usually and eagerly agrees.

One thing I don't think you might be doing enough is talking to guys. Maybe you are doing it but you are only citing examples of girls which makes me question it. When you are in a social environment, if you are only focused on girls, that doesn't do well for your image. If you are not focused so much and just having a good time and talk to anybody, guy or girl, your image looks way better. You look like fun guy that everyone, guy or girl, wants to hang with, and then lots of girls want to talk to you too as well as lots of guys.

Another is looking like leader among a select group of guys. You can't look like that among all guys but you find the group where you look like the leader. And you don't even have to be strongest, tallest guy. For example, one time I went to bar and I arm wrestled guy so much bigger than me, then he beat me as anyone should expect and I told him he was so strong and slapped him on his shoulder and bought him a drink. After that he followed me around all night and even protected me from harm's way and I hooked him up with a girl. Being leader is just how you carry yourself mostly; you don't have to be biggest, strongest, or even smartest. You just have to have a certain vibe.

In worst case scenario, what you can do is find a bunch of dorky guys shorter than you who follow you around and worship you. Then walk into a social setting with all these guys following you and you look like king to at least some women for some weird reason. Like they can't seem to tell that a leader of dorks if worse than jock follower of jocks. I know that sounds really F*ed up but seriously, if you walk into any social setting looking like the leader of your group, girls will not only be receptive to your advances but they will approach you left and right.

The problem I see when girls approach me, and I'm not the one approaching, is that I cannot select my target.

And frequently is just the wrong kind of girl. Usually beautiful, but not with a so good personality.

I also think…when having to make up excuses…it takes away authenticity, so it creates “fakeness”
When I see a “stranger” I can immediately find something about that person to have an interesting conversation…base on who they are, what they wear or about the surroundings.

@Jamie05rhs thinking back…I don’t think it came natural to me. I remember being quite awkward growing up in my younger/teen years… I felt out of place when my friends connect/chit chat in ways I couldn’t figure out how to…so I kept quiet. Slowly I learned to observe others…picked up cues then strike up conversations based on others people behaiovr, the way they dress… I am still off with music/the news/Hollywood conversations because I am not good and not interested in those fields.
