How to Carry a Conversation

I don't understand... you start talking with someone and they say they want to talk but when you try to carry on a conversation they give you one sentence responses. It is really hard to carry on a conversation when your the only one doing the talking and asking all the questions. Is it really that hard for people to try to add at least one more sentence to continue the convo to get to know one another. I HATE DATING!

well, that is the art of conversing! you must do a little mind reading, what do you think that person would like to talk about? when ever he gives you something, go on it, make everything he says be acceptable and try to understand what he's really trying to say by his boring replies, and whatever you do, don't get insecure and think he doesn't want to talk to you, chances, he really does, but is having a hard time coming out of his shell. you know how the ladie's at nordstroms try to boost your confidence (so you will buy some shoes)?boost his, don't sell him shoes, but watch his shell slowly chip off, it is very possible. My introverted friends tell me that they like me because they can talk to me without doing the talking. I ask questions, they give a one sentence response & I ask more questions. After a while they come out of thier shell. So yes, for some people carying on a conversation is difficult.

Alot of people can carry a conversation and make it so interesting as well. I'm one of them. But sometimes if you're turned off by whom you're talking to, you wouldn't really feel like talking much. Plus, some are shy/insecure/borinf by nature and it has nothing to do with you.

I know I'm guilty of this. It's my problem mostly. I just shy up a lot in one on one conversations with people. And I think the reasons is because I feel like I have to keep the conversation flowing or I think the person will think I'm boring and not want to invest any more time in me. So yeah I do give one word answers a lot, but it's out of shyness mostly.
