It's a pet name, almost certainly joking, and likely flirting. I try not to use pet names with guys when I know they like me but don't reciprocate so as to not send the wrong message. I say go for it if you want to flirt back (and apologies if I've misread the situation!!)

Honestly not sure then. If you asked her out recently, then is might just be an inconsiderate joke. Personally if someone asked me out, I rejected them, and then I changed my mind, I'd take responsibility for informing them. Not fair to the other person if I didn't.
