My friend and I have never hugged before but as we were leaving each other today he held his arms around for a hug and then rubbed my back a few times. And then we started talking again and we hugged again in the same way after. I think we hugged like four to five times, all the same way. For context, I like him and I’m trying to see if he feels the same way. He’s leaving the city for a bit too which is why saying goodbye was hard.

While hugging, yes but it depends on the context.

If you’re crying he’s being supportive showing he’s there for you to let it out/vent.

But hugging you, especially rubbing your lower back means he likes you romantically
