What is the male gaze? The female gaze? In terms of what makes men and women attracted to eachother, how do you describe each gaze?

I don't mean the feminist male gaze in terms of media. I mean what is the character of male and female sexuality when it comes to what makes us attracted to one another.

Are they the same? Different? In what ways?

The male and female gaze is a term specifically for visual arts and literature.

The differences can be seen quite clearly with Harley Quinn in suicide square vs birds of prey.

In birds of prey it looks like she's dressed herself in cute but still sexy outfits. Whereas suicide squads outfit is literally just squeeze into the smallest shorts possible, rip the shirt to show some skin, hike the boobs up so they look perky.

The filming style is also different. No tracking up a womans body. Center is on shoulders up not bust up.

It's honestly a hard thing to explain but when you start to notice it, you can't stop seeing it.

This is why I hate asking this question because I specifically mentioned in my OP to NOT consider media.

I want to know what out base human sexualities are for eachother. Is there any way I can ask this question in a way that makes more sense?

You're basically just asking what attracts people to each other.

Exactly. We all know what attracts men to women. What I want to know is what attracts women to men.
