How can you tell when you have 'pretty privilege' from both women and men?

Like when people treat you nicely and go out of their way to do things for you because they find you attractive?

Pretty/Handsome privilege can be a real thing absolutely whether you’re attractive or just respectable looking people are going to tend to treat you better. Does that give someone a excuse to treat someone else like dog shit unprovoked? No it doesn’t.

Let me start off by saying beautiful people have their own cons but please do keep in mind being beautiful or handsome isn’t impossible. If you’re willing to shower once a day, brush teeth twice to even three times a day, fix your hair, makeup for women, wear a decent scented perfume or cologne, wash your face to get rid of ache, blackheads, etc. Take decent care of yourself and you’ll look fine.

You will notice the more attractive people will have people in service and retail you’ll notice they get higher tips, more people talk to them, and the list just goes on. People will talk to you more you may get more things. You may notice as a attractive man or woman when you go out to eat at a restaurant your orders taken fast, you get checked on frequently, your drinks refilled more, and you’re given more free stuff like you’re just given a free desert or appetizer. People also just talk to you easily.

On the flip side many times attractive people get to see both sides of people the two extremes. They get to see people who are being nice to them, talking to them, giving them things, etc. On the flip side some people dislike good looking people. Some people are just going to be assholes to you for some reason or another. So it’s a REALLY good sign if people are really nice or really a ass. If people are indifferent to your presence or worse seem disgusted by you that’s a bad sign.

Also for unattractive people sometimes people overcompensate because they feel sorry for them. At the same time waitresses, hair stylists, and others will see that they don’t get lots of attention and use that to their advantage by flirting with less attractive individuals to get more tips.

Girl, you'll definitely be able to tell when people are giving you pretty privilege treatment. Some signs that come to mind are:

- People are much friendlier/smilier to you than others. Like random dudes who hold the door or chat you up just cause you walked by.

- You notice people going out of their way to do little favors, like carrying your things or offering help for no real reason.

- Other girls are straight up rude or competitive without you even talking to them, like they want to size you up as a threat.

- At bars/clubs you'll get into conversations easier and people buy your drinks without really knowing you.

- Guys let little things slide that they'd call out in other girls, like being late or flakey. They want to stay in your good books.

- Customers or coworkers treat you differently, like managers are nicer about schedules or assignments.

So don't be fooled - know when people shine you on just cause you're fine! Use it if you want, but beware anyone who treats you like an object. Stay real sis!

Weeks ago, I stayed at a hotel, and suddenly, people—both men and women—were being unusually kind to me.

At the reception, a man and a woman were in front of me, waiting to check in. The man turned to me and said, “You can go first.” The woman looked at me in surprise, and I insisted they go ahead since they were there before me.

Later, as I approached the elevator, I saw a couple leaving. A woman stood in the doorway and gestured for me to enter, saying, “I’m holding the elevator for you. You can go in.” No one else was around, so I thanked her politely and got into the elevator.

A bit later, on a different floor, another man joined me in the elevator. I had been standing too close to the buttons, so I quickly moved to the other side, smiled, and apologized. The man raised his hand and waved at me. I smiled back and looked away. I'm too shy to say or do more.

I've never experienced three kind gestures like this in a single day, all within just three hours. I’ve never encountered so many friendly people before.

That day, I wasn't even engaging with them. I was just waiting, and then everything happened. They took the first step to be friendly even though I hadn't said anything to them yet.

Or some random men just stare and wave, while I never met them. I don't get it. I tell you the truth; there are people who look way better than me. I am not attractive and good-looking at all

Woah that's crazy, those people were definitely being way too nice to you! Usually people only act like that if you're good looking.

I mean yeah you said you were just being polite and not engaging with them, but they must have thought you were cute or something for them to go out of their way like that. The guy letting you go first at check-in, that never happens. And the lady holding the elevator, no way she does that for just anyone.

And then the dude on the elevator waving at you too? Come on, he was totally checking you out! Even if you say other girls are prettier, obviously those people at the hotel thought different. Sometimes us guys can't even help ourselves from staring if a girl catches our eye, even if she didn't mean to.

Don't sell yourself short, they must have seen something they liked about your looks for them to act so friendly. You're probably just not used to getting that kind of attention, but trust me it don't happen for no reason. Maybe you just haven't realized how cute you are! So don't be so shy, I'm sure plenty of dudes would want to talk to you if you gave them a chance.
