How to tell if a cashier in a foreign country is interested?

Been going to this store since I got here, and there's this cashier who I thought was giving me the eye, and when we'd make eye contact, she held it and did that little smile with her eyes. But today, I was trying to build up the nerve to ask her out (by giving her a note, so if I was wrong, it didn't disturb her work).

But when I got there, it's like she wanted nothing to do with me. When I got there, I tried to make eye contact to say hi, but then she avoided looking at me. I saw her look at me a few times while I was shopping, but I couldn't really tell if it's because I kept looking over at her or what.

When I checked out, she acted completely different than the previous few times, like I was just another customer, and when I was done, she quickly switched to the next customer before I could even say thank you.

So was I wrong or something? I was so sure she was interested, but now it seems like she wants nothing to do with me. What's the deal here?
