If a guy stops mean teasing and turns really sweet, is that a good sign?

So recently, there's been a lot of drama with my crush, and the entire last year everyone thought we were dating. Some people also think he had a crush on me or something.. Anyways this year I noticed he stopped teasing me as much, like saying I'm short or stuff, like maybe once in twelve responses he might slip in a tease that sometimes stings a little. However, I don't take the hurt too seriously because boys are boys, I guess? But It's possible he noticed I didn't really enjoy when he teased me in a mean way, and now he always says "so tough" or something submissive, and he doesn't say something like "do better." Other things he does is lean in when I'm talking to him, roasts everyone else but me (my former friend tried to flirt with him and he rejected her and roasted her), and he seems to enjoy talking to me. (After our extracurricular together, we walk to the parking lot together and I have really bad balance so I accidentally lean into him and almost pushed him off the road and now it's sort of an inside joke.. although he doesn't seem bothered about it) Is this a good sign, or is it that he's losing interest?
