Should I talk to this cute guy from my college event or leave it alone?

Ok so I don’t know what to do. There was this guy at this event I go to weekly for college. He was sitting alone. I hate when people are alone (as I have been there), and I really wanted to introduce myself while my friends were chatting with other people. He kept looking back my way the whole time we were there. I felt so bad.. but was scared.. because he kind of intrigued me. He was honestly lowkey cute and it scared me because I haven’t thought this about a guy since like 2023. I didn’t talk to him that night because I was unsure what to do. My friend knew his name from having a college math class with him, so she told me his name. Now I don’t want to sound weird or creepy, but I did search him on instagram and facebook. I wanted to make sure he didn’t have a girlfriend first, so that I didn’t overstep. On his instagram, there was no indication of a girlfriend. His posts are all him, his friends, his family, etc. No girl comments on his posts.. only his mom or a friend. I went to his facebook, and like last year in like January 2025 he did post a photo with a girl and it was his cover/profile photo. since then he has updated his profile photo to just him, and his cover photo to something random he likes. What should I do? Lol.. should I talk to him?

I know there's an unspoken rule that guys should be the one to approach the girl. From what you've laid out in your description, it seems to me that he's a relatively reserved individual which means that even if there is a reciprocal attraction on his part, he'll find it difficult to approach you.

You also seem to be the more extroverted party of the two, and clearly you like him. In that case just approach him. Ask him whether he would like to get a coffee. What's the worst that could happen right? A rejection? You'll be bummed out for a couple of weeks and move on with your life and couple of years down the road you'd probably forget about him. Alternatively, he could say yes, in which case it's the start of a potentially meaningful relationship.

Humans are social creatures but in many cases, kids are brought up in a secluded and enclosed environment. As a result, its unsurprising that a significant number of people are introverted. We; however, have to ultimately learn extraversion whether it be in college or when we start working. Basic observation shows how older people in general are more or at least seem more extroverted since its something they've had to practice for the better part of their adult life.

It's wonderful to hear that you're stepping out of your comfort zone despite being an introvert, I know how difficult that can be.
